Day 5: Ninjas and the Luxor

... we didn't eat meat, the waitress totally understood and wrote it down. She even made sure we didn't eat fish, either, and then she pointed out the vegetarian things out on the menu for us. We got fried burdock (Japanese raddish) strips, they came arranged in a big bamboo vase, and they were a good 11/2 feet long each. Then our steamed veggies and miso came in a pot with holes in the lid. Smoke was coming out of the holes, and when we lifted the lid a ton of fog rolled ...

Day 22 - Disney Sea: Rain = No Crowds

... I was ducking in my seat and people were laughing at me I was a little embarrassed. An excellent ride though. Would have liked to have 2 or 3 more rides to see things I missed. Onto the Tower of Terror, which I had a fastpass for, and the last ride of the day. No amount of begging could make Charlotte come on it with me, as she was just too tired and too scared to muster up the courage to come on it. As it turns out it was ...

A day with Lucy

... what we were looking for. Hitoshi did find a great jacket with some wonderful Japanese embroidery on the back and sleeves. Then off to Asakusa and the temple there. We walked down the great alley leading up to the temple and saw lots of souvenirs. Kimonos, dolls, candies, rice cakes, toys and all sorts of fun things. We did go up to the temple and say a prayer (Lucy and I to our God and Hitoshi to his), always a great experience. While we were there we saw a group of musicians ...

... a yank! I managed to get across the language barrier and ordered my Guinness and after the barman managed to convince me that he was indeed serious that it would cost me six pounds I coughed up (Such is the lure of the black gold!) and sat down to watch the Americans brag about how there debts were bigger than there friends. I got talking to a gent (in fact he was Irish) who had just come from China attending an international trade ...

... were harrased by loads of people, we made our escape to foreigner land - Roppongi.... Hmmmm, expensive sums it up really, went to a couple of bars, paid 4 quid for a bottle of beer. It would be fair to say our spirits werent lifted! Here is a quote from Rat boys journal from that day. "Had a **** day. Tokyo is ****, too expensive, too big and too Japanese. I hate trains." Next day after little sleep (due to said americans) we went to Hakone, a day trip in the ...

My First transfer

... sitting quietly as if we would be landing soon (-When actually it was more like 13hrs to go!) I looked down the aisle and here was this girl (quite possibly Canadian) walking down the aisle towards me while holding a sign that said "ESL Singapore, Barrows Camp". Since my curiosity always supersedes my better judgment to stay out of other people's business, I had to ask what she was doing. She stopped to ...
