... and our favourite was the Mongolian buffet – we went back twice!

The negative was the long travel time; it took us most of the day to get from Boracay to our hotel in Manila on Saturday. Manila is huge – 14 million people, and parts of it are a little scary. Our hotel was in a working class area, near the airport and not in a tourist area so we had lots of safety warnings and were fine. We managed to hook up with a bus tour Sunday so we saw many ...

We have good WIFI in our room, but, as we learned, Facebook and anything Google is blocked in most of China. Also, Safari does not work. That being said, it was incredibly cool to finally see a part of China, and the area near our hotel is totally decked out in Lunar New Year decorations. I hope I will be able to appreciate them all the more tomorrow after I've had a chance to get a proper sleep. Time for some ...

... our tickets, so we could show that we would be leaving on Saturday. I went to the currency exchange and got 1,132 yuan for 200 dollars US. We were planning to just get a taxi from the airport, but when we stepped out of the airport we saw some airport express buses. An agent directed us to the right one. It cost us 21 yuan each, or about 4 dollars each for the 40-kilometre ride into the city. We weren't sure which ...
