Clency guided me out of the maze of small streets to a major artery from which I could find my way back to Quatre Bornes, then he got out to take the bus back home which was nearby, and I headed back in my direction. I had a long walk in the afternoon, and am now feeling tired in the late afternoon, so it won’t be a late night.

Mauritius was delicious...literally. Right where we ported was a molasses refinery that filled the air with the sweet smells of raw sugar. It was also home to the Dodo bird, which I am sure was delicious too but now sadly extinct. The ship had arrived later than usual due to a hold-up we experienced in S. Africa that kept the ship in dock an extra day, but the combination of an amazing crew and fast ship made us only 2 hours later than originally ...
