    Great Quiet Location

Shahpura House has great service, great rooms, wonderful breakfast, roof top restaurant. A house with history and helpful team. After a crazy day in the Pink City I love to sit near the pool, or sit on my balcony like a Maharani.

A Palace just for you in all the Noise

I fell in love with the place on arrival. Imaculate first class service, welcoming. Though I booked a room with a view sort of speak. Due to a techincal problem the room I should have got was not availble. I was given a little room for one night. Working in hotels and the industry I know it can happen that mechanic and issue can happen.. The next day I was put into a beautiful room that were my favourite colours.. I felt like a Maharani. Everyone went beyond and above helpful. ...My laptop crashed and they kindly tried to repair it. Like most places in India there are crowds, people noise.. which is okay but I w anted to come back to a little quite heaven.. and it was here. The details of the art work, flowers, rooms is just perfect. The pool area is beautiful with a mesh covering it against pigeons. Eric who will great you was very attentive..... I looked foward every evening to relaxing in my room, near the pool and in the restaurant upstairs or just in my lovely bathtub with bubbles.. Can"t wait to get back again

    Tourist and vendors

Early start with a ride on an elephant up to the amber foot.
First had to run the gauntlet of vendors and photographers. Riding up the ramp some followed us and photographers were running taking photographs.
    Again large, opulent and spacious.
Once we started down the ramp back to the bus we again had the vendors and the photographers …

We again had an early start.
After an hour we stopped to visit the rat temple.
Some of the women couldn't take the stench so they went back to the bus.
We couldn't wear our shoes inside the temple so we wore our airline socks so we could throw them away afterwards.
The temple stunk! There were rats running around everywhere. The …

... the whitest, most gawpish tourist in the world. So I walked around with my Ray Ban's on (most Indians don't wear sunnies, I don't know why), the camera on a strap around my neck, my generic-as-dirt Kathmandu backpack, audio-tour headphones on and the audio-tour player around my neck too. I might as well have had a sign around my neck saying "steal from me". My only redeeming quality was the fact I won't (and always won't) wear a bum bag.

So I decide to start the day the Indian way again, well not exactly, but the pineapple and melon was followed by dal, vada, aloo curry and roti. Suitably fueled for the day we start our tour at 8.30am driving from our hotel through the old city towards the Amber Fort. Before leaving the city we stop at the Hawa Mahal or Palace of the Winds for a brief photo opportunity.
