... our stay in Rugao City as comfortable as possible including four ‘walkie talkies’ for the children so they could play and venture away from us now and then.
Once we rested we were treated to a magnificent traditional Chinese dinner only to be topped off with two large boxes of firecrackers being set off in the middle of the street outside of our hotel. We were amazed how close we were and how loud ...
Today, my marketing class came to an end. We had both a powerpoint presentation and a test. The product I have been developing over the past two weeks is the FreedomBar, an energy bar to introduce to China. I chose this because China does not currently have any sort of energy bar, so I developed the product and made a marketing plan for it. The test felt similar to the last test, so I probably got another B... I also ...
Nantong, Jiangsu, China jessica.fellerI have been wanting to go to Wolff Mountain for our whole stay in Nantong, so Garner, John and I finally went! We took the mopeds up, and started our adventure. First we walked through a temple/garden area with beautiful ponds and trees and rock wall scenery. There were some buddhist praying areas and old buildings that were mostly shut off. There was no one around but us, which made it nice and quiet to walk around in ...
Nantong, Jiangsu, China jessica.feller... inside were made, how the wireless was checked, and haw it was all assembled. It was probably the most interesting tour yet. Tommy said he would have given us all free gps systems, but they only work in the UK. Later at night we went to Angels to go hang out with Tommy some more. He has a really interesting life, with a wife and two boys back home.
... Some of the students in our group want to stay behind and teach, which would be fine if they weren't Juniors and had their bachelor's degree. Anyways, I could not finish my homework because there is a webste called Claritas that we are supposed to use to choose categories for our target market, and it is not working. VERY frustrating. I needed to go exchange money from the bank, so me, Garner and John rented mopeds ...
Nantong, Jiangsu, China jessica.feller... and some dresses. Some did the cutting, some did the sewing, some did the pressing, some put on the buttons, and the last leg did the inspecting and sent defects back to be fixed. The second floor was the corporate area. The third floor was the technology room where they made the cutting designs for the fabric. The designs were made to fit the most patterns on one sheet. We had some question and answer with the owner of the ...
Nantong, Jiangsu, China jessica.feller... I was also invited to a house warming party, or so I thought. When we arrived I realized we where actually going to have a house leaving party, since the party was held at the place they where moving away from! I started nibbling at the food that where served and I asked what I was eating, I got the answer that it was chicken. But I did not recognize it as chicken so I asked again and they added it is chicken stomach. Stomach?? I never ...
Zhangjiagang, China svante... of Chinese is spoken in each area. The Chinese is much more different than a different dialect--it is unintelligible to other Chinese. So people who speak Mandarin cannot understand those who speak Cantonese, for example. BUT...the written language is the same throughout all of China, no matter what the spoken variety is. I thought for quite awhile about how this could work, when it finally--duh!--dawned on me that written Chinese does not ...
Shanghai, China cynjohn... to high school aged kids in a small town called Xuzhou while also visiting Shanghai and Hangzhou. It was a fantastic experience from the start beginning with us getting upgraded to first class when we got to the airport. That has NEVER happened to me before and usually I am sandwiched between two people with enormous laptops that need to go to the bathroom 20 times a minute! That was a VERY nice ...
