... beautiful. I love Austria. It is different than Swiss but is hard to describe. Every house and village looks a hundred years old and looks like a postcard. Then, the train turned the corner into Hallstatt. Words cannot describe the tranquil beauty of the city and the surrounding lake. We got on the ferry to get to the old town since that is the only way people can get there from the train. The ferry provided the first outstanding views of the city. ...

... lake called Königssee, Germany's third deepest lake. We weren't super impressed though, having had to pay for parking in a very touristy area and after seeing much nicer lakes on previous drives. We then drove to Obersalzburg, where Hitler's retreat is located. At times the river was quite wild, with lots of white water. The last 100 meters to the falls was rather steep, but quite worth the effort.
