    ... Romania in Bulgaria using the same crossing as last year, this time I remembered that the crossing goes over a river and the bridge is a toll road.....last year I spent an hour riding round trying to work out why my satnav was trying to take a 400 mile detour....I told it to avoid toll roads!!

    Now plotted up in a hotel in Kazanlak, aiming for Turkey tomorrow....

    ... up for that. We wandered around the fantastic fortress in the punishing heat and by the river before returning tired but exhilarated. What a stunning city. I hope it wins European Capital of Culture for 2019.

    ... this day with the pack animals. The wrangler had them tied in a line with lead ropes affixed from their halters to the pack saddle on the animal in front.
