Not much of an exploration

11/11 Corfu

We left the ship late and spent some time using the Port's free wifi. We were heading to the bus stop to take a bus into town when we ran into an enterprising taxi driver. He was waiting at the bus stop instead of in the line of taxis looking for €100 fares to tour the island. He offered us a €10 trip to the historic district and the same back. We found ...

... quite advanced and indicates a fairly sophisticated culture.

Malta was run by the Grand Master, and the Cathedral of St. John was dedicated to the GM at the time, also named John. I have never seen so much gilding—the glare from the gold hurt the eyes. We drove to Paleokastritsa Bay which would have been beautiful on a nice day with a very rugged coastline and beaches. There was a monastery that we walked to with raincoats and umbrellas and viewed the inside of the church. Greek churches have flat ceilings and are decorated ...

... being able to find the hike at the end of it…).

Albania wasn’t a country either of us was familiar with so wasn’t sure what to expect, we were definitely in for quite a treat. The border was the busiest we’d come across, we even had a hilarious truck drivers stone guard in front of us. As Albania is the poorest country we have visited we weren’t expecting the greatest roads for ...
