Finally in Malaysia!

... I grabbed an hours kip, then headed on a walkabout with an Autralian guy staying here. We took a dander around KL, checking out the sights and smells of Chinatown, then ended up in an Irish pub for a quick pint. The Irish pub was quite traditional, middle aged english men surrounded by young Malaysian prostiutes. Just like back home.

Weekend in KL - Check Malaysia off the list

... to KL from Hyderabad + 2 nights in a posh 5 star hotel (Traders Shangril La). Because I had a little more extra time than the rest of the group coming, I went out a day early (overnight flight arriving Friday morning) and stayed until Sunday evening.

Arrival into KL was a lot like arriving into Singapore. Efficient taxi service, clean roads, well behaved drivers...everything that India is not for the most part ...

The Majestic Batu Caves

... the roof opens out to the sky, casting sunlight down on the cave’s visitors, and allowing trees to grow along the cave’s inner walls!

See more footage of our climb and inside the caves here!

Getting to the caves took some sweat and effort, but the payoff of seeing such gorgeous scenery and cultural icons was well worth it. Luckily for Ian, climbing down was easier than climbing up.
Almost done..

... have gone back to China for a flying visit, back to the Perhentians for some more beach time, and down to Singapore to meet up with a friend of mine. Not in that order. Anyway, i'll bung all my photos from KL here just to keep up the blog. I'm flying to Melbourne on Wednesday, so the next entry will be from there and will probably be the last!
Leaving KL, Coming Home

... It seemed like it could be a cool and interesting place to walk around and there might be more a market here with fruits and vegetables and the such in the middle, but no, now it was empty. A couple tourists walked around, but besides that, it was still. And way overpriced for any picture or frame or bowl that you would want to buy. I liked looking around at a few of the stores, but I was over it as soon as I got there. I didn't have the money or the space for anything here ...

I guess you could call it a Malaysian Experience

... to be stuck for a plane. What Was Funny I got my heels run over by people with a trolley in the cue behind me, and then by a pusher. What I Learned * Adelaide International Airport pales in comparison to Melbourne. Give me the big silver doors at MEL anyday. * When you need to call your hotel because you missed the last free shuttle by 5 minutes, it pays to miss it with someone who is travelling with a mobile phone.

Kuala Lumpur (Sepang)

Melkein tyhjalla aamukoneella matkasimme Medanista suoraan formulakisapaikalle. Hieman hammentavaa ...

Kuala Lumpur (KLIA - LCCT)

Kuala Lumpurin LCC Terminaalissa meilla oli ruhtinaalliset kolme ja puoli tuntia aikaa. Ja sehan kaytettiin tietysti herkutteluun. KFC-kanaa, roti canaita ja rendangia! Kavimme katsastamassa myos tulevan formulaviikonlopun hotellimme. Uuden uutukainen Air Asian terminaalihotelli naytti lupaavalta ainakin ulkoapain. Muuten, Air Asia nayttaa sopivan hyvin AMATSIN RAKEN sponsoriksi ;-)

Go Jenson Button!!!!!!!!!

21st March Well, today is the day! I was awake early - which was very surprising due to an almost all night party going on outside in the street!! Journey to track involved monorail, high speed express, coach link and track shuttle (!!) but I made it to the main area - wow, so many people (especially those wearing red!!). I wandered around the 'Welcome Area' for a while - you could tell this was Malaysia as in between the Ferrari, BMW, Honda F1 stands was a stand ...

Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix

23rd March - We had to be up very early in order to get a good spot in the hillstands so we grabbed a taxi just after 7am! The circuit is near the airport which normally costs 35RM to get to each way but there was a special offer of 35RM return which included the shuttle to Sepang. This therefore cost us more than our flights! It was all very well organised and we arrived at Sepang to collect our tickets. We had been told by the ticket hotline that they had sold out ...
