... others paced the road. They had on various states of dress. All very interesting. Our final destination is a delightful camp ground on the beach. The temperatures have dropped as have the prices of the campgrounds. From 30 to 40 Euros a night to 16! Good for us. The campgrounds are emptying out as the Italians go back to work and they tourists start to head back home. We might have it all to ourselves soon. Yeah ...

Boiled the kettle (aka saucepan) for our first cup of tea. It's cold!! The rain only got heavier, so we decided to give the ride a miss and go for a Wienerschnitzel instead! After lunch we walked to another cafe to use their wifi. We started with hot chocolate and apple strudel, and finished with a beer! After dinner we chatted again with Adele and Trevor, then we watched a movie in bed! It's so ...

We got up early and did a 50km loop before the forecast storms. Was a lovely ride! We went over Passo Compolongo (opposite direction), Passo Falzarego and Passo Valparola. We snoozed when we got back to the van and had some warm left over curry for lunch. In the afternoon we spent time trying to fix the laptop, wandered through town and had a beer and a spritz before heading back to the van for dinner. It's bitterly cold! Bring back the hot days and balmy ...

... all the wonderful things we would like to buy (!) and found a couple of local treats including cheese and yoghurt. By the time we hiked back to the van it was 7.30pm. Where did the day go?! We had a platter of cheese, speck, crackers, carrots and apple for dinner, followed by our local Dolomites yoghurt. It's cold tonight!! Almost need to invest in a hot water ...

... after spending some time in Italy, that hospitality is part of the DNA of people here. The Zippilis simply prove that to be true. First stop: the old family house. The Michetti family's Pompeii. Still standing after well over a century, the house is a representation of where the journey started for Rudolfo Michetti. We learned that Rudolfo did not actually live here, but this is where his father Guiseppe was born. No ...
