After landing at KLIA, we took the KL transit to Cyberjaya station, where we woke up Mandeep really early in the morning and bugged him to come and pick us up. Reaching the company appt, we just crashed for a while. We woke up around lunch time and proceeded to what i think is now the R&H KL pilgrimage to Kanna Curry House. After that we spent the rest of the day watching the Australian Open at the company appt.
Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia rave09... very money driven. Malaysia was very developed and, prior to Singapore, the most westernised of the SE countries visited. For me its success was its downfall. It didn't have that 'Wow, this is so different from home' feeling that everywhere else has. Had I visited the East side (a lot more traditional, less developed, Muslim Malay) or Borneo (other half of Malaysia across the South China sea) I would have had a very different time without doubt.
Melaka, Malaysia martyt... we don't have a photo). It was like any other family get together, except the 5 minute prayer before lunch. Matt, Lina and I kinda sat there a bit awkwardly in silence. The food was yummy! Green curry, peanut sauce chicken, sauteed veges, pumpkin/sesame cakes and more. We got a chance to talk to them a bit about Muslim life. When Elma told us she was 1 of 12 children, we nearly all fell off our chairs - then she explained there were 3 different mothers and 1 ...
Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia mattandnicole... Malaysia. We caught the fast train to destined for the airport (which was much faster than the one the previous day) and got off at the correct stop before walking down to the bus station and asking for the bus to Putrajaya. The helpful chap at the bus station said we wanted to get the bus 'over there' and then clarified himself by shouting 'E1 E1". I assumed he meant we had to get the E1 bus, which we did. Two or three minutes ...
Seremban, Malaysia sumnerp... beneath our feet and the inside was dark, cool and surprisingly small. We also looked inside the other houses which were constructed in a similar style but with less decoration. The building housing the museum itself was also impressive with many layered saddle shaped roofs with pointed corners reminding me of buffalo horns. Out next stop back in the centre of town was the State Secretariat, also built in the Minangkabau style and opposite ...
Seremban, Malaysia heathermillsWe took a taxi the following morning back to Melaka bus station to catch the express bus to Kuala Lumpur. The taxi driver was a friendly chap and increased the size of Paul's ego greatly by saying he looked a lot like David Beckham, the second time such a comment had been made in 24 hours, I'm guessing it must be a blond hair thing. We boarded yet another sofa bus at the station for the two hour drive to the city centre and lay back in comfort as we motored up the North-South Highway ...
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia heathermills... every designer shop you could imagine and then some. The buildings back onto a lovely park area where Alex did his usual David Bailey bit and had me trekking for miles to get a good shot of the towers. Decided to check out the cinema in the mall and went to see Night at the Museum, which was a pretty good movie although it was packed to the rafters with children. Although drinking is no budget activity, eating is so the next ...
Seremban, Malaysia stefanieandalex... milo (like watery, mild hot chocolate). The food here is ...well...bad. I never knew plain rice with nothing on it would be so good. It was bad after lunch today - all the Aggies went to a convenience store and bought junk so that we could eat. That sounds bad, but let me explain. Last night we had fish head egg rolls, cabbage curry, cabbage with some other sauce, and sweet and sour pork (which was doable). Breakfast was ...
Serembin, Malaysia shannon... be silly. Then lunch and now I'm here. The campers come at 2:00. Ok, back on Sunday we had church. It was so cool to have all these different people there. The songs were in Thai, but I knew them in English so all AFCO sun in English while everyone else sand in Thai. It was awesome. Amanda said that what she thinks will be like. We'll all be singing the same tune but praising God in our ...
