... the rain! Mike and I saw the fun in it but were inclined to put that thought aside for a nicer day but 2 very persistent negotiators were on a mission. Armed with a brochure tossed to us by one of the passing Segway guide we navigated our way through the Gothic quarter to the Segway office and got ourselves booked on a 4 pm tour--later in the day. ... cards it is until we get some money exchanged. Everywhere we went, the people were very friendly and spoke perfect English. It's just embarrassing to not speak Spanish. Or French. But it all worked out.
We never really figured out the tipping. US and the Caribbean you tip everyone. So far in Barcelona, there's no tip line on any credit card slip.
What I do know, is that at every rotary there is a statue or ...

A little while later Giovanna came out and told us she usually runs the tours but she was babysitting her grandchildren, her husband was going to take over and she would be happy to show us around.

... and particularly the fact that they were mostly 'still kicking'! The fishmongers were none too happy when we stopped to photograph without buying!! We met a gorgeous Persian/Spanish guy who owned an Italian food stall. Needless to say he spoke 5 languages fluently and was about to close his shop to join his wife who was in labour as we spoke. We bought his delicious ravioli, then a serve of paella so he could sell it all to be able ...
... Our first destination was Sagrada Familia. Gaudi's yet-to-be-finished masterpiece. I've been to Barcelona four times now and each trip reveals some progress. It is an amazing project. Projected to be completed sometime in "the first third of the 21st century", I hope I live long enough to see the finished cathedral!
