... joined a Frisby team and were here for a few days as part of their tour. They were a really nice gang. We're trying the buffets here that they have all along the beach. Crab wasn't great but today they had a lovely suckling pig all laid out with his crispy skin! Yum pork chops! Only 4 euro each. Going out again tonight and we're going to try walking a bit further down the beach than ...

4 Million Mosquito bites and a Bottle of Rum!

Hey all!
Wow Boracay is beautiful. It's real paradise. Miles of white sand and blue sea. I love it. Cheap jewellery, bikinis and rum. Doesn't get much better! Except of course, you guys aren't here! Had a great night out! Sipping rum and coke by our room, when we were invited to join the owner and staff to eat yummy banana cakes stoln from a nearby hotel. They were lovely crowd ...

Boracay baby!

Hey Hey

Caught a very small plane to Caticlan this morning form Manila. The plane was really fun for me but not so much for Lucy. A bit turbulence-y! We caught some nice views of Manila and some islands on the way though. Hopped straight on a small boat then for a few minute journey to Boracay. Oh and by the way the runway is very short in Caticlan!

When we got off on the pier we were approached by a lady who asked ...

... most relaxing and beautiful stops of our eight month journey. The lack of air-conditioning made the heat a little unbearable at times and at dusk and dawn you had better be wearing air-conditioning, but aside from that it is hard to find anything not to like about the island. It was refreshing to see that most of the people visiting seemed to be Philippine, although there were also lots of Koreans, Chinese and Japanese as well. There were not nearly as many ...

Boracay: nice when it's not pouring

... strong as I had never felt it. By Sunday the typhoon started to calm down and we could walk out and have lunch at the commercial area on Station 2 called "d'mall". It is Mondy and the last remains of it are almost gone, drizzle and dark skies are still around but thank God, no major damage happened on the island. we have learned on the news though that a ferry crashed and 300 people on it died, 4 hr. awy from here.

Red Like A Tomato!

... that amaze me. They are outriggers and the design just doesn't balance out, but somehow it really does create a smoothe ride! We made it to the northern end but the waves were too big to collect data heading in the reverse direction, so we drove back to where we started. We faced north again, heading into the waves, and collected one more line of data until the video tape ran out just at 5PM!! We started having some quality issues with the video, so it was a ...

I LOVE YOU, BORACAY!!

... at 7 pesos per pill. US$3 isn't bad for a 10 day supply! Caroline wanted to check into some last minute shopping and I stopped in at the Tourist Center again to see if anyone was available to answer more questions, but the person who could help me was still on leave. On the way back, I looked for more dive shops to interview and I was able to speak to 3 people. Two were native Filipinos to the island and one man was from Australia. The Filipinos ...

Beyond the Usual

... how I survived the experience last year... Once again, this gypsy has been challenged by the spirits to head out of the urban jungle and escape from the rancid mundanity of Manila life. And a welcome challenge it is, indeed. Without any indication of hesitation, I fervently un-strapped my gorgeous black, ostrich leather stilettos; unmasked my face of urban vanity goo/corporate war paint, packed ...

Home 1 Week And Wishing To Be In The Philippines!

... arrived in Hong Kong around 9AM and caught an $80 cab ride to where Jenna, Justin, Julianne and Eileen were staying. Dan was out of money and mine was quite limited, so this cab ride hurt our wallets greatly. Nobody knew Dan was coming along, so I went into the room first and 5 minutes later he knocked on the door, giving everyone a GREAT surprise!! He and I were dog tired, but everyone wanted to go out and get food, so we followed along anyway. We had expensive pizza and ...
