... largest one was almost 11 kilometres, with most of the others being about 1.5 to 2.0 kilometres. An amazing engineering feat because they twist and turn throughout the journey. In 30 minutes (covering some 30 kilometers of road), there was 20 kilometers of tunnel. I did try not to dwell on how much mountain was above the tunnel I was passing through! I wasn't unhappy to get back on the expressway and back to Takayama.

... Fukushima. Kameda Sensei's and Ara Sensei are the English and Music teachers at Jess's high school. They treated us to a magnificent spread. It was a degustation taste of about 11 dishes. Meet the Colleagues

Today was meet the colleagues day. Jess took us first to the Board of education, where we met her supervisor and read the radiation meter (that morning about .02 micro Sieverts per hour - you get more in Manhattan). It was also interesting to see the tow poor guys who sit in the office and represent TEPCO ( the nuclear plant owners).
