... like a middle aged American couple with our own private driver (Armin) and guide (Horacio). We drove about an hour and a half up into the hills around Sucre where us and Horacio jumped out of the car to start a two hour hike along an old Inca Trail (they're not all in Machu Pichu - those Incas covered some ground along the Andes). We didn't see anyone else for the full time we were walking, other than a few llamas and sheep. And during the walk we bonded with ...

Hola!

It's me again, to tell you about our time in Sucre.

We left Potosi on 22 April and caught a bus at 1pm. We had hoped to buy something for lunch at the bus station, but all we could find was a bag of plain crisps for Mr H and a choccie bar for me. There was quite a lot of camaraderie amongst travellers though, if anyone found out any new information or which agent had tickets for sale, this info ...

Along the hike we both tried coca leaves for the first time as we went, which you lightly chew into a ball in the side of your mouth, mixing it inside your cheek with bicarb soda and some sugary grey thing. Carmelo claims the coca leaves are only for the altitude, to combat headaches etc, although him and others seem to constantly have them in their cheeks even when just in town. Apart from completely numb cheeks, we experienced a small high from the coca, which ...

... up so much they looked like tree trunks (I realise that this combined with my 5 month no haircut hair does not put me in good stead for a beach babe look in Rio!!!!). The clock ticked on and we noticed bits of metal and engine parts were mysteriously being removed from the bus and sneaked into the building opposite but, amazingly, no one got even the slightest bit annoyed about the situation, it all just seemed a part of life.

By late afternoon there ...
