... the chef eventually made an appearance to see how it was going she received what looked like a well-deserved round of applause.

After that and with big plans for the following day we headed back to the hotel, had a couple of beers in the bar whilst watching PatumTV (the whole thing is televised and it can be quite good fun trying to spot yourself on TVs in most bars and restaurants in town) then had a reasonably early night.

... who'd been here before.

I've described the cycle of La Patum in my 2013 blog entry so won't go into it in detail again but as usual it was in turn amusing, moving and exciting. The dance of the Eagle is still my favourite part and at close quarters the Salt de Plens is still pretty scary.

Our intention had been to call it a day after the first Salt de Plens because there is a big rearrangement of the crowd so it is possible ...
