Skirting my second typhoon

... for a place to stay the previous night I got a reply from someone in Kagoshima who couldn’t put me up this night, but would be happy to put me up tomorrow. As I had to crash here anyway, I asked her if her offer still stood for tomorrow, to which she replied yes!

Having sorted out my sleeping arrangement for the next few days eased my mind some, allowing me to doze off without any trouble, although I’m guessing having a bit too much alcohol in my system didn’t hurt that ...

We felt very privileged and were treated very well in the ryokans, I'll miss Japan.

... ride to the Miyajima island where the iconic red Torii gate is situated. I am sure you have seen pictures of it. Owen wanted us to get there at sunset so that we get the classic photo of the setting sun glistening on the water- which we did. See photos. Lots of other tourists we all had to walk about 700m from the ferry to the viewing point, we walked beside a little stretch of sand. Every 3-4 metres or so there was ...

... excellent, great energy. Dinner time and it's Italian night so all the wait staff are dressed in striped tops and scarves. They look great. Our 2 boys, Jeffrey and Dom are both from the Philippines and are lovely. We have an early start tomorrow and the captain will have to go full speed ahead as we were 45 minutes late leaving Kagoshima because some passengers had not turned up to customs despite being paged over the PA system numerous times. Sayonara Japan and Anyonghaseyo ...
