    Lake Como in the Rain

We had decided to take the Ferry up to another village on the lakeside, but actually arrived at the Quay in time for an earlier ferry. So we ended up catching the 9:10 ferry to Urio. As we climbed on board, the rain started, and as we cast off, that rain changed to horizontal, so we abandoned to top deck to go downstairs.

Luckily when we reached Urio the rain let up for a while. The only cafe near the dockside turned out to be a restaurant, despite having "cafe" written ...

    ... much to Oliver's delight.

We reached Como at about 5pm, and checked into our hotel. That left us time to walk down to the quay, have a drink at a cafe popular with the local sparrows, and wend our way to a delightful restaurant round the corner from the hotel. We woke at a reasonable hour and had breakfast at the hotel. The boys enjoy the idea of getting their own breakfast and the buffet concept!! When we were ready we walked down to the lake and got the 10.25am ferry to Bellagio. It was a 2 hour 20 minute trip that zig zagged across the lake to all the beautiful towns that sit along the waterline. It was a glorious, sunny day and Geoff and I enjoyed soaking up the rays on the back of ...

... trips were at least 2 hours each way so it was actually quite a long day. Our camera is still stuffed and Diamonds emailed us saying we have to bring it back to them. Hmmm.

After a short rest at home, we went out for dinner to Osteria di Beuc. It had looked better than it turned out to be. Craig’s much desired zucchini flowers were too greasy; my milanese cotelleta was not much better than an ...

    COMO - BELISSIMO!

... nice church, hills, snowy mountains – tutto bello. Back in Como… I did manage to buy a cute black dress with fancy black and white collar and later a waterproof, black, trendy Geox jacket – everything is on 'Saldi’ which means discounted –jacket was 50% off. The prices seem much better than Paris and clothing do seem more stylish. The bags are to die for…. Not yet – waiting for Firenze.Craig chose ...
