      North Lakes Tour

A travel blog entry by robynp on May 17, 2015

Day 3: Brescia, Sirmione, Riva del Garda, Verona Breakfast (included) and then a panaromic view of west coast of Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy. Possible taste the local wines and olive oils. Continue to Sirmione and the Sirmione Cape, visiting a castle and the Catullo's ruins during a boat tour. Free time for lunch at Sirmione and then travel on to Riva del Garda on the north side of the lake. Here we will note the Venetian style historic centre. Finally Tavel to Verona for the ...

We returned back the way we had come, before long it was dark, we cooked and then I read whilst Les uploaded done photographs. It's given low temperatures for tonight so we set the oven to come on for a couple of hours during the ...

Lunch at local trattoria consisting of local trout - scrumptious, a walk around town, purchase of veggies and fruit from local markets and off to the autostrada. ...

We happily returned to the hotel to pack and go. But there was one final sting in the tale.

Whilst the GLW was sorting things out in Red in the hotel car park, a large black BMW parked alongside made a dreadful hash of reversing out of its space, and managed to scrape along the back of Red. Understandably flustered by the incident, the GLW dropped the pile of things she was holding. Including the satnav. Red was fine, the BMW ...

... and the rest of us catch a local ferry across to Isola Madre. The island doesn't disappoint- the gardens are beautiful with huge camellias, rhododendrons and azaleas in bloom and beautiful Japanese maples with fresh new leaves. There's a huge red weeping maple that is just gorgeous! This island is a lot quieter than the other 2 and it is lovely catching glimpses across the lake through the trees, back to Stresa. This is Gilberto's favourite island on the ...
