... great, relaxing day. It was probably the first time I have had guilt free relaxation in a long time. For once, there was nothing else I supposed to be doing, or could have been doing, so nothing was rushed because we had no laptops or papers we had to return to. I got into Bern aroound lunch. It was too early to check into my hostel so I walked around town, toting my pack on my back. It was pretty hot, so it wasn't the most comfortable way to see the town. ... a bustling shopping area so I decided to warm up a bit and check out the shops. There were still some good post-Christmas deals to be had but I didn't buy anything. I headed back to the nearest bus stop instead and made my way back to the train station where I was happy to get on a train back to Basel and warm up! I will definitely come back to Bern when it is a bit warmer so I am more inclined to spend some time wandering.

... straight to bed as we were absolutely buggered! Thismorning i had a decent sleep in and then headed into Bern to do some last minute shopping, + to buy some thankyou presents. I also had a parcel of stuff to send home so i organised that and just pottered around, packing up my stuff, finalising plans etc. At about 6pm we jumped in the car and drove to Fribourg to Desirees godmothers house, where we had dinner with her family - of the most amazing dish of baked asparagus wrapped ...

July 30, 2006 Hello Switzerland! We arrived at charming, picturesque Lucerne, a gorgeous little medieval town surrounded by the towering Alps. The town is filled with cobblestone paths, open-air cafes, chocolatier shops and blooming flowers. I bought some authentic Swiss chocolate (undoubtedly the best in the world) and we strolled the shops for some Swiss army knives (so cool, there are ones that come with 1,000 gadgets---seriously anything you could ever need ...

So Thursday we decided it would be a good idea to go to Switzerland, so that is what we did. And wow, the country was as random as our decision to go. We took a train to Geneva, and tooled around the city for about five hours. ... The cruise was kinda cool, best though was the fact there was beer. The cog train is the steepest in the world at up to about 48 degrees. After arriving back up at Pilatus we took a bit of a walk around. It's easy to get puffed at 2100m, which Trudie tok a while to realise. The views around were amazing. Trudie managed to whack me in the back of the head with a snowball, she was very happy with herself! Had a quiet night in and gave the families a call on the calling ...

I had walked over an hour, never made it to "Lake Geneva" and ended up back in the same place I started. I called the place I am staying and they came and picked me up.
