After a quick final yoghurt fruit and honey for breakky, we headed to Parikia to board a fast ferry to Rafina (mainland Greece).




The Sea Jet - funnily enough, this ship was built in FREMANTLE!

... scurrying into the safety of shop doorways. The laneways wind and zig zag and are seldom straight. We are told the theory behind this was to confuse and deter the Pirates. There are shops selling everything - clothes and jewellery being the predominant items, but plenty of cafes. All the buildings are white and i can't help wondering what the colour charts look like in the local paint and hardware stores. Window trims seem to be the only choice available ...

... 5euro admission, so I sat out. Pretty cool place even from the outside though. It was where the first modern Olympic Games were held. When the first games were done- it was only track and field so it was a basic track made al in marble. 107 steps to the top, and it holds 60,000 people. ... The park is very peaceful with lots of seating places for those who want to just sit in the peaceful surrounding. There is a large bell, the peace bell that everyone is encouraged to ring for world peace. The next memorial was to all those children who died and children from all over Japan and the world send origami cranes which are in memory and the colours of them are just lovely. One of the victims a young girl, was in hospital for many months after ...

We flew from Mykonos to Athens on propeller plane - a De Havilland DC8 with 2 seats each side of a central aisle - quite an experience. We flew so low we could see all the roads, houses and the crevices in the hills. It was more like a helicopter ride than a plane flight! After a night at a very comfortable hotel at Athens airport, we flew to Manchester in the UK and then drove to Liverpool where we'll stay for a week. ...
