After breakfast we put on our walking boots again and went for another trek along the Pasir Antu Laut trail. Passing through small streams and clambering over and around huge boulders we eventually arrived at the most beautiful secluded beach at Antu Laut. A tough climb back up we headed back to camp along the main Turtle beach where the rainforest runs right down to ...

      A beachy adventure

Another day, another adventure and it's my birthday! After an early breakfast we were picked up by mini van for our journey to Tanjung Datu national park. After about 2 hours drive we arrived at Semantan, a small coastal town and where we would get a boat to take us to the national park. The sea is looking very choppy and there's no sign of our boat and guide so off we go to get a drink and to explore. We find the local food market and take photos of the fish and fruits and then have ...

Rafflesia's really do smell bad and they are also extremely rare and jealously protected by most Malaysian naturalists. We failed to cut through the conspiracy back in the Cameron Highlands and actually see one there, so now was the time to do it and firmly tick that box! A group of us from the hostel got up uber early to grab the 2 buses to Gunung Gading National Park just near Lundu in an effort to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Rafflesia's and a ...

      What a day

A travel blog entry by 2smartiesabroad on Jun 25, 2012

Today was one of those days that you just want to get over with and then never really think about again. We wanted a change of scenery and maybe two chilled out days at the beach so we were recommended to go to Samatan, on the west coast. We tried that, it was not good. We took a taxi to the central bus station, then a two hour bus to Lundu where we ...
