... was getting squashed! Just near there is the Red Beach. This is an impressive location, with towering red cliffs hanging over a beach of black sand and pebbles. We had a bit of a look around and then headed off for our next destination.
I saw a sign saying lighthouse. Ever a sucker for a lighthouse I turned the car in that direction. We came to the far end of the island, yet another location with stupendous views. Although the lighthouse itself is not accessible you ...
... buildings with stunning caldera backdrops that you will need another memory card. It took us almost an hour to reach the village of Imerovigli, another town perched impossibly on the top of the cliffs. Although there was nothing open in this town except the supermarket, this allowed us to get the water we needed (but not the coffee stop we craved...)
We were told that the walk to Oia is two hours, but the literature (once we read it) said 3 hours. We took more than four ...
We needed to be out the door by 6.30 to make our ferry, the Blue Star Ithaki which was scheduled to depart at 7.25. We got away on time, although arriving at the ferry only half an hour prior to departure meant we didn't get comfortable seats – the Greeks clearly knew to be there early!
The Ithaki is a modern ferry with modern facilities, including its own branch of a fast food store (Goodies). It was interesting to watch the locals sprawl over the ...
... the first one, I thought the clerk had made it up and it was actually International- I'm lazy day, but apparently International Museum Day is real so that worked out well. That afternoon I booked my ferry to Santorini and Crete and went for a walk to look at some shops with Sebastian, a friend from France. Later we went for a hike with a few others that I met on the tour from that morning. We hiked to the top of Lycabettus Hill just before sunset ...
Perissa, Cyclades, Greece ladysadoHi everyone: We are really enjoying Santorini and can't get enough of this incredible weather! The temperatures range in the mid-80's with low humidity and a gentle Aegean Sea breeze that cools us off nicely! The evenings cool off fast and the sound of the sea and surf lulls us right into la-la land! It doesn't get much better than this!! Today we spent the day on our 4-wheeler exploring about 50 miles on our bike! We started at Artemis Village in Karterados and headed ...
Perissa, Greece rlineurope... ll be able to procreate any further.
Look at the amount of mule waiting for us!!
We decided against riding it down, but we want to take a picture of us riding the mule.
This is how Ai Ling look like at the beginning of the journey, and this is how I look like half way ...
On our 2nd day at Santorini, we make our way up to the Ancient Thira. I'm sure glad I rented the Smart Car!
Just look at how winding the road is!
Ancient Thira was actually built more than 1000 years ago. And see, their ability to create the house like this and it ...
... Island in a bike too...
< br>
So, I wasn't able to ride a bike, how about a quad? I wonder...
It turned out, a Quad is even harder to maneuver! It's like driving a car with a bike's handle! I can't make sharp turns, and I don't know how to reverse! I give up....

... famous sunset. Every single tourist on the island had the exact same idea so vantage points were very crowded. Just below our perch a sunset wedding was taking place and as it has always been my girlfriends dream to have a Santorini wedding, I just thought I would rub salt into her wounds with this photo. Tip #19 When viewing the sunset in May, take extra jumpers because the minute the sun hits the water, the temperature drops by 10 degrees. Our host ...
Santorini, Greece scootergal... though since hundreds of people come to see it and prime seats are in short supply. What a way to finish a great day...........coktails at sunset, the best in the world! 25 August 2005 Today was a slow day, just woke late, ate and sat on the internet booking future accomodation, nothing spetial. 26 August 2005 Once again nothing speacial, just caching up on last minute sleeping and some well earned rest and relaxation, but the ferry ride back to Athens was going to be action ...
