Kemer 1 Girisi Kemer, Antalya, Turkey
I open my eyes – all is dark. I rub them – still, no light. Inching forward, my bini clad head emerges from the mountain of blankets and sleeping bags – there is now some light but also an icy, breathtaking chill. Quickly I dive back into the warm darkness of our nest. My second attempt at getting up is more successful. Determined I scrape the ice off our sleeping bags and shake the water bottle to see if all its content has already gone into the solid aggregate ...
Kas, Antalya, Turkey manic-tripWe had a heck of a rainstorm last night in Olympos; but it didn't delay the plan to travel westward on the Med. So, here we are in Kas, a beautiful quiet sleepy town with a yacht basin filled with sailboats.
The hostel is Beautiful. I think the best I have ever stayed in. And the price isn't too bad, although it is the off season. This Might be It- the place I have been looking for. But, of course, it's too early to tell.

From Pamukkale we headed down to Dalyan via an incredible mountain range. Rural Turkey seems to have many bullet holed road signs in amongst the goats and donkeys.
However, Dalyan is by far the most tourist oriented place we have visited and how Steve did not succumb to the "Full English Breakfast" signs is anyone's guess. That said, it is a stunning setting, based on a river with ancient tombs carved out of the rocks ...

Megísti (Kastelorizo), Greece pmitroulias... about 6m below sea level but you can clearly see the remains and the old harbour. On the hillside there are old houses and steps and foundations. The ruins are from the Byzantine era and the city was practically ruined by an earthquake. The weather was really clear and the sun made the water a beautiful bluey greeny colour. We cruised around and found another bay to anchor in - this was was super still and we ...
Kekova, Turkey chooklotto... you take a strip club (not speaking from personal experience here, just from what I've heard) and then bump it up one or two notches on the SAS (socially acceptable scale), lose the pole and you have the "cultural experience" of belly dancing. Well tonight ended up being no different, except that she really encouraged participation. So, this was not a sit and enjoy and watch kind of belly dancing, but rather a get up and shake your bon bon kind of dancing. Unfortunately, my ...
Feyithe, Turkey msu... change of pace from Selcuk and Pamukkale. A couple of days ago, under the all wise, all-knowing Ali Baba, i booked a spot on one of Fethiye`s famous blue voyages - a four day boat cruise from along the glorious meditterranean coast from Fethiye to the treehouse laden commune of Olympos, four days of chilling, eating, drinking and sailing around like would-be pirates. I say, what more could a man ask for? İ was sold from word go. Conveniently, it ...
Fethiye, Turkey thesaxman... until the full solar eclipse on the 29 of March that will darken the entire country). My dolmush dropped me off on the side of the highway at the turn-off for Xanthos. This site's relevance, unlike that of Tlos, sticks in my memory.* Xanthos has some of the best preserved and informative Lydian tombs available. A Brit did a number on the site 150 years ago and took a lot of items to England in a warship (the site is just off the Med. coast). In the 1950s some French ...
