... It turned up a little late and we could see why straight away the driver was a drip. Nice old fella who didn't really have a clue what was going on and took an age to get everything sorted. After driving across town to the bus depot to drop off some freight, a few boxes of blood and a driver change thank fully we got underway (guess they offset the costs by shipping some freight as well as people, this time they had boxes of ...
Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia gaz-lj... loved it and would recommend it to anyone.
Next day we moved down the hill a few kilometres and set up camp next to Liverpool Creek where we stayed for a couple of days. The kids swam in the creek, we fished, we relaxed, we made friends. It was wonderful. We drove to Mission Beach a couple of times, once to visit a friend and then to have a long luxurious lunch with her and her family ...
... and found some coconuts, so that was it, we were goin on a coconut hunt, and we were going to get a big one, it was really good and the kids loved it from, finding them, trying to open them, to trying the milk, They now have new best friends, Coconuts!! We have come to Cairns with our mates all securly packed in the caravan!
We definately could have stayed here a few nights more, but one will have to do!!
... had dinner but were happy to take them back to café near our caravan park for coffee and desserts. Thus finishing any hope the kids had of supporting me in the pool comp. I felt relieved, but was extremely embarrassed when they sang their song/chant before we left for Faye and Ian and the rest of the punters.
Super Saturday came around quicker than usual, we dropped Greg at the Resort Hotel and continued on to the Banana Festival at the local Primary ...
... but these other cars tend to ride your rear bumper a lot, bullying you into driving faster….We read of a lot of deaths in Queensland due to bad driving…
{the thing with these birds was the red eyes..I;ve cropped the picture in the hope you can see ...
We took a 12 hour journey over land, sky and water to arrive on Magnetic Island. The trip encompassed stopovers at Gingerland, a visit to Australia’s best barista - I of course did not indulge in any coffee as per my 5 year bet (thanks Jeff) and the absolute highlight, a giant pineapple. After the exhausting day all we wanted was to relax. Upon arrival at the most magnificent hostel we had ever seen we were dumbfounded when the receptionist ...
Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia darahannah... once before lunch, but that was in a spot they were trying to flip us because it was relatively safe. After lunch thing were a little quicker pace going 10 km over 2.5 hours. On the second last rapid, one of the longest and probably one of the most dangerous to flip our boat came over the top of a rock and the raft flipped. At first I wasn't to worried, I got thrown a little further from everyone else and for the moment I was being held by a rock so I grabbed ...
Tully, Queensland, Australia bpippert... Its all really rather a sick joke. I can imagine the scene and conversation when creating the world, ‘Let’s tease these humans and put sublime coastline, hot temperatures, appealing looking water and then here’s the catch. Let’s dump some of the most dangerous things in the world in and see what happens'.
So all one can really do, is stand on the beach look on without in dismay at what they are missing. and not truly imagining the ...
... came to fetch me as the local bus wasn't running, it being a Sunday. Its not something they normally do - so this was greatly appreciated. He had his two little girls with him - they're fun and ever present at the Sanctuary - as is Stuart - who is to the Sanctuary surely what your mother is to your home - he knows the run of every inch of the place. He checks you in, gets you beer (and drinks a few with you), maintains the place, drives you around ...
Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia codownsean... and spent the afternoon chilling. It was ways the intention that we would chill at Mission Beach having been travelling now for almost six weeks. There were lots of birds in the garden - today Jayne spotted a kookaburra. As arranged, at 4pm, we called to see if our trip to the Reef the next day (on Quick Cat) was on or not. Apparently we were the only two to have signed up so it looked like we were going to miss out.
