We spent the morning at the salt mine. The tour starts with putting coveralls on. We then went on a mini train. If you were taller than 6 feet you have to be careful because there is not much headroom. The tunnels are very narrow. You start the tour by sliding down a 50 foot wooden slide to the mine. They explain how they mine the salt. There use to be a salt water ocean 14 million years ago that evaporated ...

We spent the day in Salzburg, about 30 km from Ramsau. After breakfast we headed to a park and ride on the outskirts of Salzburg and took the bus into downtown. Parking is crazy and expensive in the tourist area. It was only about 15 minutes into town. The shops, churches and fortress were amazing. Everything is expensive. We didn't buy much. We toured the cemetery by St. Peter's church and ...

... flowers beautifully arranged into groups around a fountain, which appears to be a nymph holding birds spouting water.

Entering the main part of Mirabell Gardens, you see something as courtly and fit for royalty as the Tuileries Garden in Paris, but smaller and more beautiful. The red flowers are arranged into lines that look like hearts, and at the center is a larger fountain. Along the periphery of this garden are several statues and the beautiful ...

... more than happy to partake in. I’ve sampled the food in every country I’ve been in and Vienna certainly wasn’t going to be an exception! Pronouncing the food is the only challenge about it, eating it was easy! As well as sausages (yum, yum), Austria is known for its pastries. I figured with all the walking I’ve been
doing I could allow myself to indulge in one or two (or three or four....).
