    ... the first castle, the lovely Neuschwanstein (which provided the inspiration for Walt Disney's Cinderella castle at Disneyland.) It sits well above Ludwig's childhood home, on the actual mountainside, and is therefore a not inconsiderable walk.     ... now with all theses tourists lol. Made it to the top omg, and then walked through the long tunnel to the polished brass elevator. Hitlers long Mercedes would drive through the tunnel and he would ride up the elevator. This place was a favorite for Eva Braun to entertain.     We had a great breakfast in a wonderful hotel (Alpchalet). We checked out at 8:40 to get to the ticket center for our castle tours. Our first tour of Hohenschangau was very impressive. It was the first castle we had toured that one could imagine living in and it had all the furnishings preserved. The walls were all decorated with paintings applied directly to the wall.     ... Disney created the castle at Disneyland. But we didn't go into it because it's really such a tourist stop....several bus loads arrived just before us and the line for tickets was over a block long. We have one photo.. From a lovely cemetery in Fussen.
