    Three countries in one day

    ... are autonomous. Their representatives gather once a month in the capital Bern. Each canton have their own laws etc. Switzerland is not part of the Economic Union and use the Swiss Franc although most shops accept euro notes but will give you francs in change. There is conscription and must serve for 3 weeks a year until they are 40. We arrived in Lucerne around 5.30 and look forward to exploring the city tomorrow. Off for tea now and hope to find fondue.

    ... back in camp to find a note on our door- "G'day, mate. Come and have a chat, site 72". There we met Wolfgang and Claudia, from Ellis Beach near Cairns (originally from Austria and Lucerne.)     ... the armrest. Then not even 10 minutes later, the flight attendant comes over the intercom, asking frantically for any medical personnel to report the the back of the cabin.     ... we traveled to Berne and I thought that that trip was by far the best. But then today's activities trumped everything that we have done in Switzerland to date! Mt. Pilatus is a mountain in Lucerne whose summit can be reached by hike or gondola. After another early morning, we planned on hiking about an hour up the mountain and then catching a gondola to carry us to the rest.
