... due to high winds. So we headed into town for the morning and decided to visit the mountain after lunch.
We cruised around Lucerne for the morning, checking out the expensive Rolex watches, a few landmark squares and churches, went across some famous bridges...cant quite remember the names of them at the moment.
We went to lunch at the Statdkellar Restaurant where we indulged in ...
... here in Croatia is like a weird social experiment--locking up 40 college students in a hotel in Croatia... yesterday we finally left the resort complex and went into the town of Pula. It's a 40 minute walk or a 15 minute bus ride. I walked there and bussed back. It was a cool town, but kind of annoying to get to. It reminds me of Algeria. There's quite a few roman ruins around, which is really neat. And the main part of the ...
Zurich, Zürich, Switzerland chelseyineurope... in during the summer. We were actually a bit bored that day as there wasn't too much to see and we were getting quite tired of walking around. We had a nap and read our books and played Yatzee in the afternoon. Then we had dinner and then some snacks and wine out on our balcony before bed.
We headed into Zurich the next day. We didn't see too much of the business district but instead stuck to the old town. It was a nice city ...
... and enjoyed the gorgeous views and crisp cold air...I LOVED it! To warm up before we headed down we looked around inside at the gift shop and all that fun stuff. Then we boarded the cog-wheel train to take us back down the other side of the mountain. This cog-wheel train is said to be the steepest in Europe...maybe the world, not too sure on that one. Once we were at the bottom, we hoped on a train that took us back to Lucerne main train ...
Lucerne, Lucerne, Switzerland kkb-myadventure... River so it was pretty easy to navigate. At one point during the tour I walked by my company’s Zurich office. I laughed a little, thought about how ironic it was that I hadn’t seen any other office buildings and the first one I see is my company. I finished the tour and luckily had enough time to walk around the market in the train station. I ended up buying a pretzel that was stuffed with salami. Although it cost me about $9, it was really good and well worth it.
Zurich, Zürich, Switzerland jesters09... size; how many people you put in it is another issue. There are no 'kings' or 'queens' either, just twins or doubles, one big bed or two little ones. This is boring, right, but how often do you sleep in a dorm? It'll make you think. The nice thing about hostels is that you sometimes meet interesting people. The bad thing is that sometimes they feel like the downtown mission, this one especially, both ...
Zurich, Switzerland hardiek... too cloudy to really see clearly, but every once in a while we caught a break in the clouds and some great pictures! After a full day on the glacier, we started our journey home stopping Klein Scheidegg for the world's great "Apfelstruddel." We opted for the scenic route home taking the gondola from Lauterbrunnen to Murren, then hiked down from Murren to Gimmelwald. After a full and busy day we wrapped ourselves in blankets and enjoyed our pizza and wine on the porch.
Gimmelwald, Switzerland lkjr77... would allow a 15 year old to purchase the movie - but its Europe) and it was okay. After the movie I went to sleep. She is a professional figure skater and sometimes I help her with her English homework. I am really surprised with the level of education here - her studies are quite intense. She must learn English, German and French in addition to Math, Science, History etc in high school. How she manages to learn all ...
Zurich, Switzerland rlp5321... to his roof and then to his roommates window. We banged on that for about 2 minutes and still nothing. We eventually found another open window and got in. When we walked in, we found his roommate in a complete daze wondering what had happened the past 10 minutes. Martin and I decided it was time to sit down and have a scotch and smoke a blunt. What sounded like a great idea turned out not to be such a great idea ...
