... Gilly. I then entered a tunnel with no way of being able to turn around. I then found myself on a dual carriageway heading towards where we needed to be.
After pulling over and waiting for 10 minutes, I then text Les and told him that I would continue on to Lindau at the south end of Lake Constance which was our destination for the night.
So I had 100 km of solo riding which I really enjoyed and about 75 minutes ...
The rain is still torrential this morning. It is just like when we were camping in Lauterbrunen in Switzerland when the valley was swept away in the floods. Within about 5 minutes we have crossed the Rhine and now in Germany. As we start to climb out of the valley into the Black Forest the scenery becomes alpine. The houses are mostly wooden chalet type and every so often there are shops ...
... On the way we were treated to
cheese and wine.
On arrival we were shown up to our own private dining room
for a very fancy lunch. Corinne’s brother and his wife, Urs and Regula,
serenaded both Corinne and Grandfather, whilst other relatives recited home
written poems about the two of them. All very formal and all very in German. A
three course meal later we all said our good byes and headed on our separate
To cut a long story short we finished our meal, got to
Constance, stepped off the boat and walked away. Bargain trip…….if they can’t
get organized it’s their loss.
A uneventful ride back to camp was followed by a BRAAI IN
THE RAIN……meat is good at any time especially when washed down with copious
amounts of beer and wine.
