... There's about six vantage points that you can reach via stairs and walkways and I visited them all and took dozens of photos. The stairs and walkways were covered in snow and ice but the sun was shining, and despite it being zero degrees it felt warmer because it was very still. Next I returned to Chamonix and we headed for Switzerland. We didn't know too much about Switzerland so made a uneducated decision to head for the city of Lausanne which ...

... seemed to have too many rules and too many cars and too many tolls. So we settled on Bodensee. You (I) can't get everything right. The whole of Germany, a fair bit of Switzerland, and some of France seems to be on the edge of the enormous Titicaca-like lake that is Bodensee. Originally we had planned to stay in a town called Uberlingen but Uberlingen was full. Working our way down through the D31, everywhere was full. Bloody enormous campsites the size ...

We arrived in Zurich with expectations and all of them were met with disappointment. Impressions of Zurich. Brown, bland, uninspiring. It was difficult to find a park. In the end we found somewhere and had to ride about 6 km back into town to have a look around. We rode along the lake into Zurich and it was a cloudy old day which may not have helped but it all seemed so dull and lifeless after where we had been. Hence we only spent a couple of hours looking around before ...

... We had more celebrations like we did for Grace. After lunch Kat’s host sister also came around and brought a huge cake. It tasted amazing. We also had to of course sing happy birthday to her so we did. In 3 languages. English, German and Spanish.

We had classes again today before and after lunch. Before lunch I sat in my morph suit but wasn’t keen on walking to lunch in it so got ...

    A Day around the Lake

We had a good buffet breakfast at our hotel before starting out for our circumnavigation of the Bodensee. This lake sits on the border of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland - so we will need to get another vignette today, this one for Switzerland. The annoying thing about the Swiss vignette is that it's a full-year sticker; they don't offer a discounted, time-limited option. Oh well - it's pay up, or don't drive there!

    We started ...
