Spectacular...right on the lake with a wonderful water side dining. The lunch was very good, service was good. Room is fantastic, the lake view and patio is wonderful. Clean and quiet.

We headed straight to the airport after that & flew to Berlin. We figured out the S-Bahn system - it is very easy to use. It was dark out, so we took a stroll down Unter den Linden street - a ...

Just southwest of Salzburg in Austria's scenic Salzkammergut lake district was a waypoint in our journey toward Vienna, a place I had only recently heard of but knew we wouldn’t want to miss: Hallstatt. Driving from Munich to Salzburg gave us a "taste" of the beauty that awaits us in Bavaria and Switzerland, as we passed numerous small towns nestled in the rolling hills of the lower Tyrolean Alps. Oh, did I say "taste"? Maybe that was a psychological slip, because really Salzburg has been one wonderful gastronomic "taste" after another, as the pictures show.
Arriving here Tuesday afternoon, we unpacked at our charming pension, and ...

Did I mention the food? Barb and I cooked/ ate a lot of food during my stay. She was determined that I must try as must austrian food as I could. And I believe we succeeded.

I am so lucky to have a good friend like Barbara on the other side of the world, and that she has such a loving family! I will visit Salzburg again. Because you know what they say- third time lucky. ...

... but alas, there was none. We followed the signs that said castle. We then came to a fork in a road, and saw a couple and asked them which way to the castle, and they told us we were going the wrong way, so we walked back from whence we came, and turned where the guy told us to (turns out the sign was twisted slightly so the arrow didn't point to the wrong path). We then started walking, and thought that it wouldn't be too bad of a ...
