Spectacular...right on the lake with a wonderful water side dining. The lunch was very good, service was good. Room is fantastic, the lake view and patio is wonderful. Clean and quiet.

Sound of Music: When I last left you, I was heading out to the Sound of Music bus excursion. Smaltzy, but I loved it. 50 years ago, in 1965, the movie was made here in Salzburg (and indoor scenes inside in a Hollywood studio). We went to all the sites of major parts of the film, saw many familiar buildings and recognizable sites, and learned about fact and fiction regarding the Von Trapps. Our guide was an Austrian from Salzburg, who had lived in Boston for 10 years some years ...
... but didn't experience them. Perhaps I might want to, Ron, as tomorrow will be hot! Took a ride down the Salzach River yesterday as well, and the boat guy showed us Hotel Sacher Salzburg (part of the famous one in Vienna), and so it goes that royalty stays there, as well as has been host to famous movie stars. As I mentioned earlier, the Nonnberg Abbey is where they were married in real life, but it was too small for filming. The Church is striking with its bright yellow coloring and white accents. The inside is ornate, as most European churches are, and mass was being held as we visited. I ...
... loved it.
We watched a movie made by Gretel telling the story and showing the places in Austria where the scenes were filmed. It was cool, because we were there live.
At the finish of the tour, we went to Mirabelle Gardens. It is where the scene with Maria and the kids singing and dancing took place. Spectacular gardens with founatins and rose bushes.
We went back to room to shower and rest.
That night we went to the old ...
