Ko Pha Ngan and popping back to the UK

Our next stop for our final week was Ko Pha Ngan, where I'd been recommended a secluded beach away from the craziness of the Full Moon parties. The only way to get to the beach was via a little boat, and they insist on waiting until there are a few people to make the journey worthwhile. They also make you jump out of the boat into the knee deep …

Diving on Koh Tao

... fish… the list goes on. After initially doubting our dive instructor we actually became good friends and built up a relationship with Kengi. He was an extremely good instructor and incredibly passionate about diving. After a final exam on the last day we were officially Padi Open Water certified divers. This meant we could now do dives anywhere else on our trip up to depths of 18 meters. Island life in Thailand is defiantly one of the ...

... A quick hello from some passing Nomads and by the time we had finished and paid I was still none the wiser. Paul suggested we grab our bags and that we leave as it 'wasn't far' I was still clueless. Across the street he lead me into a beautifully decorated reception area. All dark teak wood and gold buddhist imagery. The receptionist came from behind her desk to greet us, asked us to take a seat and told us not to worry as the shuttle bus would be along in only 5 ...

... arrived and spent the whole next day recovering. We didn't enjoy the place where we stayed at all and so I posted a pretty scathing review on Trip Advisor, but getting sick probably skewed our perspective somewhat.

Positive highlights of Krabi province included a day trip to Phi Phi Island via ferry and an afternoon on Railay Beach. The limestone karsts that jut out from the sea around Krabi are very dramatic and formed the image I had of ...

Last minute trip to Thailand... yes please!

... before heading back to the dive school. Roxanna tells me she has found an instructor and I should be back at the shop at around 9.30am. I'm given a textbook and asked to read the sections on buoyancy and navigation before I come back. I get a full English breakfast at the cafe over the road and read the relevant chapters.

My dive instructor is Trevor and he's Canadian. I also have a Scottish lad who is doing his dive master to help me out (as part of his training) with ...

Last on reception made our stay. She was so friendly and helpful, went out of her way to fix any problems we had. Room cleaned every day with fresh towels and free bottles of water. We were located in the hillside bungalows but only 2 minutes to beach and restaurants. Room was big, bright and nicely decorated.

Was great place to stay. We chose the bungalows over the road from the beach for 500 BHT per night. We got it slightly cheaper staying 6 nights. A beautiful white and orange dog seemed to live out the front of our bungalow and would visit the bars with us, wait with us, then return us home. We loved this seeing we were missing our own dog back home. Good food! Relaxing place to chill out. Good location and fantastic beach.
