I left Sydney and flew to Cairns to snorkell on the Great Barrier Reef. I spent the first night in a hotel and the rest of the trip was spent aboard the Coral Sea Dreaming yacht.

Cairns, Queensland, Australia rachandstuSpent a leisurely day yesterday, swim before breakfast then into the city for a dander. Stumbled across a great market on the esplanade and the Rotary were having a fun day so Maureen if you get a call to say your Dad has won the first prize in the Duck Race (not literally) then they may stay a while longer (the prize was a cruise and he put your phone ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia ednabuchan... the whole thing. We finally got up to 14,000ft (freakin high!) and the door opened. The first girl and her instructor hurried over, sat down feet dangling, and WOOSH gone! In what seemed like less than a second. Then I hear it's my turn. I'm hurried over by my instructor. I sit on the edge of the plane with my instructor right behind me, cross my arms and in less that a second he's pushed us out and we're falling through the air. It was awesome and freaky but you ...

Cairns, Queensland, Australia taste_the_world... beach. The next day Jackie and I took the cable car high up over the rainforest canopy up to Kuranda (marketed as a village in the Rainforest) but actually an interesting artist and aborigine community. The cable car provided great views of the sea and the top of the rainforest canopy and if we didn't have a plane to catch that afternoon we would have taken the steam train there and the cable car back down but due to time pressures we made ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia hess... an Aboriginal who built a huge fire for us. He started playing the didgederoo (this huge long tube that sounds like a tuba) and then informed us that the campground was haunted by ghosts. He said the only two rules at the site were no whistling and no spitting into the fire. To this I said, "SWEET! Only two rules!!!" The following day was amazing, trucking around Champagne Pools and Indian Head Cliffs. The views were awesome ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia bobbyvegas... we did have the choice before we booked the tour of spending a few hours there or staying the night.Right aligned photo tag: To save some money and partly because we told it wasn't worth it, we decided on a few hours. We were dropped off at the resort where some would stay the night. The resort was on the edge of the rainforest where it met the beach supposedly one of the few places in the world where a rainforest actually leads all the way ...
