I left Sydney and flew to Cairns to snorkell on the Great Barrier Reef. I spent the first night in a hotel and the rest of the trip was spent aboard the Coral Sea Dreaming yacht.

... in Seoul and maybe have a bit of time there to enjoy - but probably be too knackered! Flying out of Korea at lunchtime - don't know whether that's Friday or Saturday as we get back to Heathrow on Saturday afternoon - very confused no doubt. Probably won't get another chance to blog so will amend all spelling mistakes upon my return. The computer here won't spell check for me!
Cairns, Queensland, Australia gandsinoz... whole- 'someone has to undergo a sex change so we can have a male' thing? #2: How long did some poor bloke, scientist, have to watch Anthias to figure out that this sex change process was taking place, how, why, etc?
I would tell you about the different types of corals we saw, but they all have names like "Gelliodes Fibulatus", "Ianthella Flabelliformis" and "Acanthella Klethra". Not too descriptive nor easy. Guess the scientists are too ...
... pretending to be fish who clearly had no idea what they were up to and consequently looked ridiculous all weighed down to get the bottom and with all sorts of contraptions attached when having gills just made life so much simpler. Our first dive was down to about 12 meters and thankfully didn’t involve any skills. Just adjusting to the depth and getting use to our new surroundings. It was simply lovely being out on the reef on the boat. We could snorkel to our hearts ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia ciaradoonerush... that it would stop raining by then! And straight after went on the internet to sort out my next hostel when this bloke noticed me looking at my skydiving pics and we ended up going for a walk and getting a drink together. He then booked himself on the same tour as me.

He threw it at me & I couldn't even get it up so I'm shouting Matthew please just get me a meduim & he said "well it would help if you put it on the right way" I thought all wetsuits fastened at the back not front. I tried again & got it on round my bum ...

Our experience with this type of tour is greatly affected by what animals we can encounter. Unfortunately for us, that night, we didn’t encounter very many animals! Boo-urns.
We were very successful at spotting exotic insects and bugs, but not so successful at finding mammals and such. We did spot the elusive duck-billed platypus, though taking a good photo of it was difficult. And we saw several possums and small monkey ...
... backpacker places and holiday apartments, with some really nice restaurants. It has a lovely atmosphere, and is really nice just to walk around at night. We managed to catch the terrible Hatton fight. That provided entertainment for all of 6 minutes! Next stop, New Zealand!!!
Cairns, Queensland, Australia jz2009... turtles and Nemo. Well - I didn't find Nemo - apparantly I was looking straight at him twice and even took a picture with an underwater camera in his direction twice. My fellow dive mates all saw him - but for some reason I didn't. In the dark The pictures hopefully say it all - some are other peoples pics - mine were fairly **** - but it will give an indication of what I got to see. The highlight was the night dive ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia codownsean... over the car as we closed the gates behind us. Yeah good look with getting everything done with just you and Saskia Harry! We made a stop off in town to fill the car with petrol and get some breakfast from the local bakery. Once full we set off to Cairns. The journey flew by (well I slept through it so it would lol). We had booked into the Cairns City Backpackers as I knew it and so it was easy to sort out and get ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia oldhamguy... local crodile farm. This farm gets wild crocodiles that are causing problems in populated areas. They capture them, and bring them to the farm where they are kept until they die. As part of their "rent" the farm collects any eggs that are laid. The eggs are hatched out in a hatchery there and the babies are raised for commercial purposes. The skins are sold to Armani to make handbags, the teeth are sold as souveneers, the meat is ...
