We had a somewhat early start but for some reason everyone was incredible slow to get up and get packed up. Our cook decided to cook pancakes which is awesome but each one took a long to make and he made a lot of extra to eat later and it took him quite a long time to cook. It didn’t really matter because our tour leaders were late to get up too because I think the woman(Nova) was drunk last night and ...

Friday 18th September. Today we drove south again to the border of South Africa to a place on the Orange River where numerous vineyards and orchards are fed from irrigation from the river. The campsite we stayed at on the banks of the river was the lovely grassy Felix Unite campsite. It ...
... we were in one of our conversations - but we got to experience four dramatically different weather conditions in just over three days we spent in and around town. We arrived with a semi-cloudy sky, which sort of concealed the sunset we were looking forward to, only to realise what a display the clouds put on as they got hit by the sun rays after the sun slipped beyond the horizon. The whole of the second day we were ...
Luderitz, Namibia dani.bora... and retains much of its original European roots. We stop at the Shark Island Camp Ground, another joint run by our friends at NWR . The site is on a beautiful little peninsula - that used to be an island before the development of the new harbour - with stunning views of the ocean, and sunset is so breathtaking here we decide to stay for two nights before moving on. Prices are ok at N$50 per person ...
Luderitz, Namibia dani.boraSo, I write to you now from an internet cafe in Luderitz in the far south of Namibia on the coast. I flew in on Thursday morning and was collected at the airport. We then got the bus all the way south that same day. The bus (combi) left the bus station in the usual way when it was full and drove all the 30seconds to the petrol pump!! There we sat for another 15 minutes and rearranged seating, got more supplies and all sorts. Once we finally left ...
Luderitz, Namibia philippamWe are rich!! We found diamonds!!! Just kidding. We drove through the desert, past the DeBeers signs saying stay in your car, we own this land, through the winds that can sand blast the paint on your car if you drive too fast, and then through a black rocky moonscape to the coastal town of Luderitz. There isn't much to say about Luderitz, except they had Jack Daniel's at the bar down the street from the backpackers. It was so cold, we needed a couple ...
Luderitz, Namibia tomlinejAnother long drive day sees us trundle south towards the border, before we take a detour to visit the Fish River Canyon. This is the second biggest canyon in the world and is quite a sight. We hike the few kilometres between the various viewing points and that allows us a true appreciation of the size and scale of the canyon. My camera has been ...
Fish River Canyon, Namibia mariborkev... a whole bunch of them just taking it easy. We continued into town from there. Luderitz is one of the only ports in Namibia. It is VERY German. Most of the buildings look like the were picked up from Bavaria and plopped down in a wasteland. There wasn't too much to see. It was pretty surreal to see the European culture and architecture, but the town itself has seen better days. There were loads of unemployed guys just hanging out and getting drunk. Evidently ******* in the street is a ...
Luderitz, Namibia natecropp... Afirca: "Do you have anything to declare?" Me: "No." SA: "Have a nice day." Namibia wasn't much different, except that they asked us for $140.00 Namibian Dollars which is about 25 bucks. I could tell right away that Namibia was going to be different than South Africa. First off, there isn't anyone here. The country is three times the size of Great Britan and has 1.8 million people. So it's empty. It's quite beautiful, and each bend in the road provides a different ...
Ai Ais, Namibia natecroppHow is it guys ? I would like to apologise to you for the poor state of my blog. I only opened it about 4 months ago, when I was in Costa Rica. It is the first time I spend so much time on a computer. I don't really use to it! Let me introduce myself quickly. I have been travelling for 15 years; I started when I was 16 years old. At that time I was only travelling for a couple of months before ...
