Jordan is a gem.
Being in Petra was something I d heard about from friends and felt priviledged
to be able to spend a few days in this small country a haven of tranquility in
this turbulent neighbourhood Our guide was Jordanian a lady of a certain age
wearing the traditional Muslim clothes needless to say she was interesting and
when it came to climbing up to the Monastery well we climbed the 900 steps
My favorite bits would be Hikkuduwa beach (you can do yoga & surfing retreats here), Adam's peak and Siguriya.
By the end of it I was very happy to be returning to India (which had quite gotten under my skin), I think this was 50/50 wanting to return / wanting to slow the pace down a little after almost being on time restricted a holiday.
Anyway, back to Chennai for a 26 hour train journey to Mumbai and the exciting North India!

Shopping is interesting in this area as you get whole
streets (towns?) of the same shops. We had brass temple oil lamp central,
basketware central, terracotta ...
So....bringing babies onto planes. Is it ethical? The good of the many outweigh the needs of the one year old. I swear my gums were bleeding after grinding my teeth to take my mind of the screaming bambino. Then 5 hours sleeping on the floor of Kuala Lumpur airport. I tried to listen to my ipod to sooth me to sleep .Unfortunately I brought mainly French electo.
