... cheap here they can afford to. I do not know for certain but I am sure the concept of the minimum wage does not apply here. The staff were friendly although without much English spoken. No problem, the menu was in English so it was a matter of "point and nod". Further reinforcing the "chain" idea was the fact that both the bottled
water and the obligatory ketchup were marked as having been specifically produced for Dinemore.

... its close to Colombo and the accomodation is much more affordable. So we can go to Negombo for one night, get the bus to Colombo to see the dentist, then get a bus back and chill out by the beach until we leave. We got one direct bus from Kandy to Colombo which took about 3 or 4 hours. We were squeezed onto the bus and had to pay for three seats to accommodate our luggage as well as us.
