... We also spent some time with John's uncle, Keith Adkisson, and his wife Hazel in Cocoa Beach and had the opportunity to meet Hazel's daughter, Teresa, who visited from Maryland. They were kind enough to let us borrow one of their cars so we were able to move our car to Jacksonville where it would be when we arrived there with Satisfaction. In Jacksonville, we had the boat pulled at Huckins Boatyard to have the bottom painted and the hull compounded ...

Good for the birds which could walk on it but less so for alligators who found it hard to swim. Hard paddling for sure but pretty and very much good fun. Started our day at Drayton Hall. In our excitement to get to our first plantation, we sped past the guard gate. Unfortunately, we were caught and had to pay! Signed up with Friends of the National Historic Trust. We must really like history... Nah, we got a free low country rice spoon. The estate was built in 1738 and has ...

The beaches here are like a giant parking lot at low tide, which makes for ideal walks and bike rides. Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island are small enough that everything is within "beach cruiser" distance, including Poe's tavern (named after Edgar Allen) with its great burgers, Taco Mamacitas with one of the best fish tacos we've ever had (blackened mahi mahi, jalapeno corn slaw, grilled pineapple, cilantro, ...
