          ... We also spent some time with John's uncle, Keith Adkisson, and his wife Hazel in Cocoa Beach and had the opportunity to meet Hazel's daughter, Teresa, who visited from Maryland. They were kind enough to let us borrow one of their cars so we were able to move our car to Jacksonville where it would be when we arrived there with Satisfaction.           ... t complaining. Turns out they knew about my blog. But really, they didn't need to do all that. The place was perfect, the atmosphere so good you could sit and just soak it up. More importantly, it was the nicest meal I've ever had. I felt genuinely sad when I was too full to eat any more. Although I kept trying.

          Positive: The main area is very safe to walk around, even as a female at night. But wear cmfy shoes.

          ... a ride around the plantation and saw the entire grounds. this plantation has the longest tree lined live oak entrance, with spanish moss hanging down. some movies were made there. the house had lovely antiques and was very beautiful. of course the tour guide was dressed in her hooped dress. they had about nine slave houses left on the property, it was a third of the orginal, each one had a video with information on ...

          ... Ann and I were able to tour the plantation. In addition to the gardens, there's also a stable and rice mill. The staff at Middleton Place dress in period costumes, and demonstrate many of the practices of the day. We observed silk spinning and the operation of turning corn into corn meal. Pretty cool stuff.

          The beaches here are like a giant parking lot at low tide, which makes for ideal walks and bike rides. Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island are small enough that everything is within "beach cruiser" distance, including Poe's tavern (named after Edgar Allen) with its great burgers, Taco Mamacitas with one of the best fish tacos we've ever had (blackened mahi mahi, jalapeno corn slaw, grilled pineapple, cilantro, ...
