This year our fall trip to Japan is going to prove to be something a bit different. Instead of going to all of the usual spots that we've been to in all of our six other trips to this great country, we have chosen to take a tour of the deep south -- four days on the island of Okinawa.
First though, it is always an arduous plane trip from Regina. Usually we travel via Vancouver (and sometimes Calgary). This year was to be no different but our travel ...

The people here are just fantastic and we have met a number of foreigners now living and studying/working here in Japan. Some of their stories are absolutely fascinating as is this country. I love Japan.
Unable to connect via wireless internet so more difficult to upload photos but may try later.

We stayed at a lovely little Ryokan (they have brochures at the airport) called Oghiya. As I was the only girl I was kindly given a great room in the top of the house with a tatmi mat sleeping area but also a little western style living room with a sofa and t.v and my own bathroom since the main one was communal. Cotton yukata (like a bathrobe) were provided in the room and so, after an epically nice bath (you scrub and rinse down totally in a ...
It's our last night in Japan and time for a bit of reflection on the week. Before we came out both of us were a bit anxious about the completly different culture of Japan. Dont be, it's a lovely country with really helpful people it's very easy to get about and being on a Shinkansen is like flying on rails. We spent today on and around Lake Ashni, ending up walking through wooded pathways ...

I didn't get an upgrade. I was told that they have changed their policy again and aren't doing that. I wish I had known about the policy change when they offered to let me upgrade with miles. I don't know if I would have but I would have thought about it more. I had an aisle exit row seat, so it was pretty comfortable anyway. I got a few hours sleep on the way.
Dann schlafen.
Narita, Kanto, Japan patricbucher... Frontierland? Nope. Westernland.) with Cinderella’s castle in the background. Sadly the fireworks were canceled due to high winds, so it was back to the hotel for a hot shower and sleepy time.
Day 3 at Disney began early once again to beat the crowds. Not quite as exciting as the first two days, but we did manage to see just about everything we wanted to. There was more popcorn, including an encore performance from our friend ...
... different location (thankfully out of sight from the last). "Ohhh, free samples??" we say to the girl with a shot taking gesture she recognizes and a slight smirk to each other. Hmmm, lets try this one...

... was vanuit Auckland).
Narita, Japan nienke78... aspect, transportation (given that we dont have car as what we used to have in our country). There are 2 train stations here, Gyotoku Station (Tokyo Metro Tozai Line) and Ichikawashiohama Station (JR line, but this is a bit further from central Gyotoku). The trains are always crowded especially during the peak hours and unless you have important things to atend to, please try to avoid taking the train. I'm not kidding as it is ...
