Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan odekake

Today we were unable to go to the lavender fields like we had planned, so we improvised. Sapporro being the beer capital of Japan, we headed to the beer museum. Fascinating though it was, we were still below Japan's drinking age and therefore felt a little left out of the festivities. ... br> Next we discovered that the Japanese Winter Sports Museum was located just a short taxi ride away from the park. We went and checked out the olympic ski jump and the interactive simulators for several winter sports. Perhaps the funniest discovery of the day, however, was the INCREDIBLY inappropriate mascot for the ski jump area. Please see the picture below.

Also, another student from Indiana, Shingo joined us. On a pu y voir pleins d'animaux et de poissons exotiques pour nous; gros crabes (vivants et non sur des etales), pieuvre, poissons divers et surtout des gros animaux tels que des lions des mers, otaries, phoques et un gros morse, jouant avec les humains (ou plutot l'inverse).

The fashion is especially midwestern if you know what I mean - its nothing like the ladies and fellows of Kyoto and central Japan who take fashion to another level. The countryside is beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. Its the kind of place where you can kick back and just relax (because our lives are sooo difficult, traveling the world and not working!!)
