Historical Traveler Reviews of Seaport Hotel & World Trade Center Boston

Some disadvantages

from donethat
After reading the glowing reviews and a very attractive on-line room rate, we stayed here for the recent 4th of July weekend. Overall this is a very nice property with a courteous and helpful staff, but please be aware of the following: 1. Yes, there is a "no tipping" policy, but you're billed a 15% service fee for all incidentals to the room rate, including parking. So while the room rate is attractive, be prepared to pay an additional $24/night for "self-parking" (more for valet) and a $3 service fee. I asked why I was required to pay a $3 service fee to park my own car, and was told this was for the privilege of unlimited in and out of the garage.

3. For smokers, this may not be the place to go. The entire building is smoke free and you must initial an agreement that you will be charged a $150 "cleaning fee" if you are found to have smoked in your room. If you smoke, be prepared to fill unwanted.

4. For business types and conventioneers, the hotels has a choice location. For those on vacation, maybe not. The new seaport area has no public transportation so you either have to hoof it over to South Station to the subway on weekends (not pleasant in inclement weather) or take a taxi to the rest of Boston and back to the hotel. Business types and conventioneers have easier access to the World Trade Center across the street and the use of a free workday shuttle to South Station to reach the financial district a couple of blocks from South Station. Also, there will be direct foot bridge access from the hotel to the new Convention Center when it's completed next year (04).

Very nice hotel

from Mikofam4
The hotel was very nice, and very clean. The floral arrangements were the most beautiful I have ever seen. Great price, great service, nice concierge. The hotel helped to make it a very pleasant trip. Nice workout facility too.

Super Seaport

from The_Coach55
Although the Seaport's location is not the best (unless you have business at the Trade Center), the cleanliness, facilities and standard of service are second to none. In particular, the fitness and swimming pool areas are excellent, and the Aura restaurant provides top class cuisine, albeit at a price. The 'no tipping' policy is also a refreshing change from the usual rip-off from the big chains. Transportation usually involves a taxi journey, but this will improve once the Trade Center 'T' station opens. The free provision of InterNet access is another big plus.

Wonderful Refreshing the Place to stay

I travel to Boston quite frequently and decided to stay at the Seaport in order to be closer to the airport. What a wonderful surprise! Great hotel, great staff, great rooms!! Highly Highly recommend it!

Places to see and stay or not

We stayed at the Seaport Hotel. It was not that great unless you are really into athletics. No jacuzzi, only a lap pool and male and feamles had their own saunas in bathrooms. Three years ago we stayed at the Boston Harbor and it was fantastic even the view from our balcony.Conceire's were most helpful. We went to Dick Last Resort great food and FUN, you need a sense of humor to go there, music was awesome. JFK Library was really interesting too. Fenail Hall a must to go too. The people are very helpful everywhere.

Surprise, surprise!

What a pleasant surprise from a property that doesn't have a brand name (Westin, Hyatt, Marriott, etc.) in front of it. Property is in very good condition and rooms are spacious and clean. Our room was on the top floor and had a great view of the Boston Harbor and Logan Airport. Very young and energetic staff provides great customer service. The free shuttle bus that runs to and from the property to the nearby South Station is convenient to those without a car and wanting to catch the "T" into town. Warning about the shuttle - it does not run on weekends and while they allow baggage, do NOT expect help with your bags and you will have to stow them in the bus, not in the bagage compartment. This shuttle is NOT operated or affiliated with the hotel. Kudos also for the free high speed internet access and free desktop terminal in the lobby for guest use. We'd stay there again.

Good service at the Seaport Hotel

If you have business in boston at the trade Center, the sepport hotel is a must!. It is close by, it is 5 min to Boston Airport and that is fast for Boston traffic. The service is great, and the best part "no tipping" for the wonerful service you get.

Best kept secret in Boston

from A TripAdvisor Member
I just stayed at The Seaport Hotel because my condo was under construction and was very impressed. The hotel was absolutely spotless and the service was consistantly excellent. The best benefits of staying here, though, were that there is NO charge for high-speed internet access, local phone calls or toll-free calls and there is NO tipping anywhere! When you stay in a hotel for two weeks as I did, those petty charges add up. The health club is also awesome... brand new equipment, great lap pool and helpful personal instructor. I'd highly recommend this hotel - it's a "best kept secret".

Great place

from A TripAdvisor Member
The staff is incredibly helpful, no tips rule is strictly enforced, and the gym is nice. Resturaunt (AURA) is awesome. Beds are all right. Bathrooms are beautiful.

The location away from the T means that you aren't close to much in bad weather. There is a one way shuttle to the T as well as Fanuiel Hall, but it is quite infrequent. So prepare to plunk down some dough for cab rides (conveniently hailed for you by the energetic staff).

In fair weather, the children's museum and the Aquarium are walking distance, as are the seafood places/ battleship.

Seaport Dream

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Seaport is a beautiful, contemporary hotel. The bed is very comfotable. The staff is very accomodating. Great restaurant and bar. There are only two drawbacks.

1) You will spend a good amount of money staying there. If money is not an object, then this isn't a problem.

2) It is a little out of "downtown" which means you will need to take a taxi to most places.

Overall an excellent experience at the Seaport!
