... and spending some time on the beach we head back for dinner at our new home. The meal is delicious with the best sashimi I have ever tasted (David) and tofu with basil plus a lovely salad. The cuisine is Japanese but there is a French accent with it. The main is fresh fish again with Japanese veg and some noodles - a real feast.

Next morning we catch a bus to the port to catch a ferry to neighbouring Taketomi ...

Ishigaki is the most southern city in Japan. Legislatively it is in the same group as the disputed (with China ) Senkaku Islands. That could explain the sight of 10 Japanese Coastguard boats when I opened the curtains this morning! It's a small island, you can circumnavigate it by car in 4 hours. ... at right hand you will see the place with the specific front of the picture. Try the grill squid, the best I had in my life. The second is on the main road, not far from main bus station. Try the tuna fish, it's a sin. Bars, most of time we spend in the Banana Bar, it's at the end of the famous shopping street. When you are at the end, just look to your left and you will see it at the next corner. Try the cocktails, very delicious. Sorry no picture ...

... in my trip, not 7 months into it. On a happier note we spent the last 2 days exploring two islands, Ishigakj and Taketomi. Ishigaki had some breathtaking panoramic views, while Taketomi had an incredible historic charm and ambience. The "village" in the middle of the Taketomi island hosts visitors on a water buffalo carriage and took us around their cute village. The island has a whopping population of 340! There was yet another stunning beach on this tiny island. ...

... when I arrived at the guest house, the landlady was complaining because I was late for the dinner time. The old lady was friendly and talkative. She knew that their guests liked her talk. The old gentleman was showing folk-arts making, but we were not interested. Some young Japanese love the air of island guest houses and come back to the island again and again, but that will never happen to me.
