Tyndall Air Force Base visit
I got to travel to sunny Florida and visit with Mike's brother Ron. Ron had been in the United States Air Force since 1981 and is retiring tomorrow as a LT Colonel. I like all the fighter planes around here. This is a training base for the pilots learning to fly the newest Air Force fighter jet, the F-22 Raptor. They also host other fighter squadrons who come in to test fire air to ...
Day Eight - The Florida Panhandle
*** To place this in context and view the timeline, begin by clicking on 'About This Blog' *** Tuesday, 23 October 2012 Today started with a quick ride into the tourist area of Panama City Beach, FL, a quick dip in the Gulf and relaxed breakfast at the resort's beach cafe. Then a leisurely ride up the coast to Pensacola, FL. The coastal road was a ...
Day before going home.. :(
... on a filet and some onion rings... but it was SO good... it is most certainly a tourist trap that is overpriced... but it sure is good.... after eating, we hit the gift shop to check out all the random ****.... and sweet Jesus what a bunch of RANDOM ****! It is always interesting to me to see what people will spend their money on, but to each his own... :)
Headed back to the condo... and slipped into a food ...
I got sunshine......
... have had some very awkward folks up there... After several pick up attempts, I think I convinced most that I was "happily in a relationship" as I was not at all interested in anything other than hanging out with my boys (per usual), but it was a pretty decent crowd... and we did meet some genuinely nice guys. Finally got out of there around 1 and went home to crash... but not before hitting up some waffle house.... another right of passage after going to gross PCB bars... :)

Take me down to Panama City...
... porches with widow's walks... uber cool houses!
Got into PCB about 3-4.... got unloaded, went grocery shopping and then were ready to eat. Went to Bayou Joe's (I think) over back across the bridge in Panama City... it was an interesting place... with just as interesting clientele... I had to use the facilities and she brought me out this placard with a key attached... I was hesitant ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Seahaven Beach Hotel Panama City Beach
Never More!
We reserved a room by credit card at 7PM on 9/26. Two day min. We were not told that if we did not arrive by 8AM the next morning, the room would be given up. We arrived at 10AM to find that the room was rented (none available) and we were charged a No Show fee (93.00). The manager said that we should have known to be there by 8AM. He said that he could refund the charges but would not. We asked if we could leave our car and cycle trailer parked there while we walked next door to inquire about a room. He said "No, get it off of our property". No sympathy, just you screwed up, I took your money because I could, and get lost.
Simply the most enjoyable time
7 of my friends and I rented one of the two penthouses that the hotel offers. Let me tell you the place is HUGE! 3 bedrooms, one HUGE king sizebedroom with sunroof(relax you cant see through it), one queen bedroom with a veiw from the front, and the double with a veiw from the front. There are two bathrooms, one standard and the king bath was HUGE also. The kitchen was clean with clean dishes, fridge, sishwasher and stove. Let me tell you, the veiw in the living room was amazing. floor to celing glass windows that wrapped around the entire gulf side of the hotel room. you open the curtains and you feel like you are right on the beach. sunsets and sunrises are amazing(not shing right in though).
you can even walk outside onto the large balcony! Everything in the penthouse was spacious, clean and beautiful. The cost during the season we went was $442 per night after tax, but split that between 8 people for 4 nights and it is around $221 dollars a person for the whole trip.
not bad at all! watch out though, there is a hefty $500 deposit for people under 21 without a person over 25 staying in the room. just dont mess up the place and it will be fine! If ou want a great view and accomodations at a reasonable price, get the penthouse!
We suvived
This hotel WAS dirty, smelly, poor lighting, bad excuse for a breakfast .
Do not stay here for any price. Staff was not helpful in any way shape or form.
Great view, not the cleanest
We have stayed at Quality Inns before and you could at leat depend on clean accomodations. We are a family of 4 and thought having the 1 bedroom suite, with a kitchen, would be a good choice for our visit to Panama City Beach. The location was fine, and the view from your room was center stage " the Gulf of Mexico". The pots for cooking stored under the cabinets under the kitchen sink were dirty. I had to re-wash eveything. The ceilings of the bathroom were mildewed. Housekeeping was inconsistent. We only received shampoos and coffee for 1 day, out of the 4 days we stayed. The grounds were not kept. Cigarette butts all over the scarce landscaping and the windows, glass doors on the exterior entrances were dirty. We got a AAA discount and still paid $135.00 a night. Be cautious. I wrote, Quality Inns corporate office to express my disappointment.
Review Quality Inn Panama Beach, FL
The room was okay. The grounds, halls, elevators and walkways outside were filthy. The room service was terrible. One day our room was cleaned and the door was left ajar by housekeeping. The room was only half cleaned one day. Clean towels were left but the beds were not made. The air conditioning unit sweated or dripped on our clothing and the carpet. I felt that Panama Beach as a whole was dirty. I don't think I ever want to go there again.
I wouldnt stay here again
Okay, me and 7 friends came down for spring break. Everyone was for the most part helpfull. However there was one lady(Latanya) that was extremely rude the entire trip. She yelles at us and got an attitude very easily. It took us 1 1/2 hours to check in and 1 hour to check out. The fridge was broken and we were told it would be fixed, and they never came, the sinks cloged up. I would not stay here again. I would rather go to a more expensive hotel and actually get some service.
Beautiful
in one word...awesome!!
Acceptable for a few days
We stayed for 4 nights in February 2003. After some of the review we were not so sure about it. Check in was ok, the room was clean, balcony at the beach, a good breakfast in the morning. The pool in not heated and too cold to use during the winter, and the hallways and stairs are not very clean. The one elevator is very slow. They have monthly guests in there suites. Smoking and Non-smoking rooms alternate on the same floors, unfortunatly, smoke will enter into the non smoking rooms. Also the very highly praised Sharky's next door is smoking only, the food is ok, sevice slow, and with the cigarette smoke svirling around our heads we took our dinner out and ate in the room.
Don't close your eyes! Mice are everywhere!
We stayed at the Mark II (same property/owned by Quality Inn), last year and were so pleased. The building was freshly redone and staff and whole experience was wonderul....alot can change in a year!
This time, we were given our first room on the top floor, and were not happy that the adjoining "suite" door was not secured, and the shower was mildewy, so we asked for another room.
This was fine, except halfway thru our stay, we saw something dash across the floor, and it turned out to be a mouse! The staff gave us the option to "upgrade to a deluxe room" on the FIRST foor, or change hotels. We opted to change rooms on the SAME floor but at the opposite end.
That next morning, we saw a mouse dart across the floor AGAIN! The front desk said we could change rooms or go to a different hotel. I said I wanted to be comped and did not want to CHANGE ROOMS FOR THE FOURTH TIME! I saw the hole where the rodent was coming and going from, and knew he was out of the room, so we opted for them to put a trap at the hole so he could not come in the room. That night, the mouse got half trapped and managed to carry the trap across the room and almost escaped. I trapped him with the ice bucket and had security remove him. No sooner did he leave that I spotted another mouse behind the fridge! I was lucky to shoo him out the door myself!
The staff found it laughable that we had this problem, and one person confessed that the restaurant nextdoor had "deep cleaned" since the summer months were over and rodents had come into the adjacent facilities and they were aware of this problem!
It is a nice place to stay but our experience was definitely one we will never forget!
Never again......
This is absolutely the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The hotel was dirty and there were underage kids drinking and hanging off of the walkways the whole week....right in front of the security guard. There were bloodstains on the bedspread, and no clean towels in the room. There were used tissues in the dresser. The staff was very rude and unwilling to help with the issues that we encountered. These are just a few of the problems we had with this hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
