    ... when he got the invitation to live there from the King who was a great admirer. He travelled there by mule over the Alps from Italy bringing a few bits and pieces, including the Mona Lisa with him. It hung in his bedroom for a while until they decided it would be better off in the Louvre. They had a marvellous exhibition of models made from his sketches showing what an incredible visionary he was. Machine gun, Glider, Tank, Paddle boat, Steam hammer, swing bridge, Gearbox, lifting ...

    ... We left Falmouth and headed back to Portsmouth believing that there would not be a toll road - wrong!!! About 8 miles west of Portsmouth is a new bridge that has a toll but we decided that the amount we had to pay (1.50) was more than worth it.

    Sunday morning Bruce walked up the main street to get some photos that are quite difficult to get while there is traffic about. When he returned we set off for a visit to a model village ...

    ... to Swansea in Wales. We found the local cemetery and looked through the older headstones and found some Griffith surnames, together with other common Welsh surnames such as Jones, Williams, Lloyd, Owen, Johnson, etc.

    After Llanelli we drove back towards Cardiff to visit the National Welsh Museum at St Fagans Park. The Park is a large open air museum with examples of buildings from the 1600s to 1900s. We spent over two very enjoyable hours exploring the site ...

    And we are off.
