Im sure a few of the lads will be cursing digital cameras and facebook by the time this trip is over. You can guarentee that some girlfriends and wifes will not be happy. If you like the sound of our trip and have been inspired to do the same, then book accommodation very early as Whitby can get busy, try the following link Whitby Accommodation
... for even longer and were spoilt rotten we had to leave and boarded the train bound for Scotland and we are very grateful to Elaine and Len for introducing us to their very special friends.
The train journey went well and we rumbled into Edinburgh Station without a hitch and will now see if Scotland is ready for the Griswalds .
Bye for now and talk to you all from Scotland

The picture is one Him & Her took on their walk - but why anyone would want to photograph snails having their lunch is beyond me!!
Got back home around 5.00pm and then they tucked me up for the night, taking care to do all they needed to settle me down for a long rest.
... who was the first European to explore much of the South Pacific, Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia. Since we'll be visiting so many of the places that he "discovered," it seemed appropriate to visit the port that he originally set sail from.
Once we landed aboard, we explored the small village and found a nice restaurant to eat at. I was exhausted from all the walking at Hadrian ...

Yes, this place really is called Fryup! We, quite by chance, stumbled upon this fine barn conversion in an isolated spot in the North Yorkshire Moors. It was a 15 minute drive to the nearest shop - perfect. The moors are dotted with public footpaths and bridleways and there were a variety of walks from the front door. It was great in April but I wouldn't have liked to contend with the narrow, steep and winding roads in frosty conditions.
Staithes, England, United Kingdom latestarter... to write Dracula. I'm no big reader but I've since got myself a copy. I returned later in the day when the mist had lifted to take in the views (and get away from the crowds). Fish and chips are a must whilst in Whitby. There are plenty of seafood shops but battered and deep-fried cod is by far the best.
Staithes, England, United Kingdom latestarterStaithes was a little disappointing. The guide books sold it well but on arrival it seemed a little run down. There were several empty and run-down properties on the pretty main street leading down to the harbour. We took a walk from Staithes to the next bay and then in land and back to Staithes. It was both coastal and country and would have been lovely had it not been for a mass dog dirt covering the paths.
Staithes, England, United Kingdom latestarterGot invited on a random roadtrip up north with my lifelong best mate and her family. Aside from having to deal with her annoying grandmother, it was absolutely gorgeous. Didnt have a camera at the time but wish I did, there were hills and picturesque houses everywhere!
