Or get the MRT, which meant following the instruction on the hostels website to get there, but would mean having to do many changeovers of the trams which seemed a lot of effort with our backpacks! We went for the MRT, it was alot cheaper, and much easier than we thought. Eventually we arrived at our hostel after walking down a few wrong streets, we couldn't check in till 2pm so had to leave our bags and we walked to a shopping centre close by ...
... a bar anywhere. In fact, instead of serving alcoholic beverages to the gamblers, the waitresses came by with coffee and tea. We finally found a blackjack table and sat down, but everyone was quiet and reserved - the opposite of what we're used to in Las Vegas. Needless to say, we didn't stay very long.
The next day, after a refreshing morning run around the Gardens by the Bay, we had breakfast in the hotel and took a taxi over to the Singapore Botanic ...
