    ... youngest there by a good 30 years!

    The next day we visited the Hearst Castle. It is a massive house build by Randolph Hearst. It was amazing to walk around and see it all. We spent most of the morning doing a few tours around the home and gardens. On the way out of San Simeon, we stopped to see the elephant seals. I was amazed by a beach covered in the fattest seals ever, and Lach took pictures of squirrels. Go figure.

    Into Sorvang a quaint Danish community which was started in 1919 and still exists today. Lots of Danish pastries etc, but after the size of that lunch.....For our bowling friends - one of the buildings was Rasmussen Crafts - must tell Minna.

    ... road, and right there is some amazing natural wonder. In this case, we climbed on the rocks, found a little cave to explore, and enjoyed the nice weather.

    ... br> We stopped along the way at a beach where there are thousands of elephant seals - it was interesting to read about how 20 years ago there were a few dozen, and now it numbers in the thousands. I think it was San Simeon State Beach, as we were fairly close to Hearst Castle. They weren't doing much other then laying around. Not breeding/birthing season, just relaxing season. By the time we got to Hearst Castle, it was 3pm or so. ...

    ... into the ocean here- 2000' of mountain to the right and 500' drop offs to the left. The road dives in and out of canyons and ravines with many "slow to 15 mph" hairpin turns. Our destination, Ragged Point, is located only a few miles from the flatlands. If one continues on this remote and beautiful mountainous path Big Sur and Monterrey can be reached in about 1.5 hours.
