The entire city of Hurghada uses reclaimed waste
water for irrigation purposes. Hence Hurghada suffers from millions of
mosquitoes and a very foul smell caused by raw sewage.
At 6 AM in the morning the Sea Garden Hotel empties
their septic tanks. The noise and the bad small was horrible. I stayed at a
beach hotel without mosquito screens, hence I had to stay and sleep in the room
with the windows closed and a noisy A/C running.
The hotel prohibits guests fr...

... but I didn’t like the hundreds of chrome and glass lanterns that hung low from the ceilings. To me, they detracted from the church’s splendor and covered up the simplicity of the church and its paintings.
After the Church of Transfiguration, we saw the original burning bush (hello?! The burning bush?! How cool – and surreal – is that?!) and the Well of Moses, a natural spring that is supposed to provide marital bliss to those ...
... the greater glory of pharaohs. It also was the most important place of worship in Egypt during the New Kingdom.
Everything in Karnack is on a gigantic scale – the site covers over two square kilometers, while its main structure, the Temple of Amun, is the largest religious building ever built! This was where the god Amun lived on earth, surrounded by the houses of his wife Mur and their son Khonsu, two other huge temple complexes ...
Not much to blog today except that I managed to find the Singapore GP
on the TV. Unfortunately on a German station but at least I managed to
watch it at least.
Can't remember if I mentioned on the diving days I spotted an Osprey
nest on one of the marina entrance marker bouys. On the second day
both Ospreys were standing together ...
Our 20th wedding anniversary today which started with some shopping
and then the hotel offered us a free meal tonight mainly because of
the problems at dinner last night but also because of our anniversary.
Rest of the day is quiet with a relax by the pool this afternoon
because it is has been really hot today and it helped us cool off.
Dinner tonight was excellent in the hotels al la carte restaurant
which was all the better because it was free!
Meryl's Birthday and we spent the day on the dive clubs boat going out
to Dolphin Point to do snorkelling. It was pretty good to see the fish
again like yesterday plus we got to see a few dolphins as well.
Got back to the hotel around 5pm and guess what? Another cake has
arrived! Woo hoo!
Going for dinner tonight on the side of the marina with a show as well.
... it wasn’t really working for me. The bus did have a TV and DVD player, so I sort of watched the movies that were put on but they didn’t really interest me.
I did get an antihistamine pill from one of the Canadian nurses on the trip (they were very well prepared) and it definitely helped to knock me out. I did manage to get a bit of sleep that way (as well as you can sleep on a moving bus). But then we stopped for a dinner break around 7pm and I woke up. I wasn’ ...
... us in comfort and safety to our hotel for a fraction of the local taxi cost. We used him as our driver for the whole of our stay and even arranged trips to Cairo and Luxor through him again with courteous safe drivers and at a fraction of local/hotel costs.
This service made all the difference to our holiday and I would thoroughly recommend it to all visitors to Egypt. The website is: www.goldencar-eg.org
Hurghada, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt lisandroni... that I was scared for me. This got a bit of a laugh from the locals in the office who understood English. My response was repeated in Arabic to the others, who all roared hysterically. Eventually, we left the office with our tickets and a homemade cookie in our tummy (the ticket agent's wife made them). We boarded the bus for our 5 hour journey north and east thru the rugged desert. At the second stop-off point along the road from Luxor ...
