... smiles as the food was some of the best I have had in the South. With the night's darkness and warmth still in the air we left early in the morning to take our private transfer up the winding roads through the hills and into the mountains of Periyar. We entered the dense forest which was unexpected having only driven severals hours. This is where we stayed for Easter weekend. After half an hour of full on effort Rory became tired and was nice enough to let us have a go. ... that we could hear over the sea anyway. Back at the guesthouse we heard a knock at the door not long after returning. It was the little man who runs it (and speaks no English) pointing out that it was raining, really heavily! We stood out on our balcony to witness the tropical rain and hoped it would clear the air a bit. It didn't. During the day we went and had breakfast on the seafront, and walked about a bit. As well as being muggy it was also overcast and very cloudy. We stopped ...
