Scuba dooba dooo!

... ferry trip sleeping with his back to us!

The ferry ride back was rougher than the one we had arrived on, with people using the sickie bags more frequently resulting in the very nasty scent of eau de puke hanging in the air. The 45 min ride took ages and it was with great relief when we were on dry land again and in a taxi heading to the Hedman Alas bus terminal to get our connection to Copan, home of the famous Copan Ruins.

But more about those later...

More Diving!

... in under five minutes.

Tuesday

Our last day diving! Or, at any rate, our last day for now. (I'm considering the option of going back). We did one final dive, on the reef, and took in the fish, the coral, a pufferfish and (out in the distance, after the dive) we saw a huge turtle. Good way to end!

Afterwards, we returned to the mainland. We're in La Ceiba for a night, and going white water rafting in the morning. Should be fun!

Livingston to Utila

... the morning. 8 of us traveled from Livingston, to the Honduran border. The Honduran border was a little sketchy, but nothing out of the ordinary at this point. There were guards with guns, but all they wanted to know was where we were going in Honduras. Once it was established that we were heading for the La Ceiba ferry, they checked our passports and kindly let us through.

About 2 miles past the Honduran border, our van ...

Tauchen ist echt was Beeindruckendes ...

My Last Day

... her next destination fine: Ecuador. There she will spend two months volunteering before heading to Chile for another two months of volunteer work. Some time in May she expects to return home to U.S.A. no doubt into the anxious arms of her family. As for me, I was bitter-sweetly anticipating my own departure from this country. My daily life and activities here were so diverse that on one hand it felt like I had been here longer than 3 weeks but on the other it seemed to have all passed ...

Born to Shop

... as well so that gave me a much more accurate picture of what to buy and in what quantities. She was very thorough. My next dilemma was how was I going to buy all this stuff? The amount of money that I had in my possession to purchase items was rather substantial and would go a long way here in Honduras. There would be many stores that I would need to solicit and the quantities would be significant. Furthermore, not only did I not know the city well enough to effeciently shop but I was ...
