Bumming around Palma

Spent a day wandering around Palma... The city is quite large, and so I stuck mostly to the old areas of 'tourist' interest. There are churches, a cathedral, plazas and museums all over the place, but being there on a Sunday meant that I was limited in what I could see and do. Many thinks remain lose forgave reduced hours on Sundays, something that seems to be less common in North America but still prevalent in many other places. Being that I prefer architecture over spending ...

A twisting road around Puig Major plunges 800m in just 12km, turning 270 degrees at one point to loop under itself (a feature known as the 'Knotted Tie'). A much better and easier approach is by boat from Port de Soller, passing genuinely isolated bays with an excellent view of Puig Major, albeit spoilt by the military installations on the summit of Mallorca's ...

Round Two

A couple hills and a coffee stop, not much to report today aside from another lovely day of riding. We passed many an almond tree, one of Mallorca's key products along with lemons, oranges and apricots. The coffee stop in Bunyola coincided with their feast day for their patron Saint Mateu. Song, dance, piñata-like activities for the kids, and a a parade through town with bagpipes for all the villagers was quite the sight, and it looked like everyone was ...
