Things I will miss
So I'm a little behind on my posts...but as most of you know, I'm coming home in 2 days!! So in honor of this, I'm going to do two posts today: Things I will miss/Things I will not miss.
THINGS I WILL MISS!
- Having the housekeeper bring me juice when I am home in the afternoon
- My host family and especially watching Tangled and Pocahontas in Spanish with my 3 year old mini me
- Being able to take a two hour bus ride and ...
In the Time of the Butterflies
... having the honor to speak with Ms. Dede Maribal, the only surviving sister. She lives in the house where the sisters grew up, but occasionally comes to the museum to talk and visit. She is a REMARKABLE woman and gave us great insight into the lives of her sisters. At 87 years old, she is incredibly lively and was incredibly happy to talk with us and answer questions we had; What an amazing experience with living history!

Rice, beans, nachos, fruits, and liver
... Unfortunately we were introduced to them during orientation week and can't stop ordering them now! I'm also addicted to their iced coffee which was even better when I figured out how to say skim milk! They put a little bit of cinnamon on top and it is just fantastic. They have some Dominican food and some American food so it's great for when I want a break from rice and beans!

... There was a proper baby warmer with the proper resuccitative equipment for babies. There was someone helping soothe the patient before and during her epidural. There were scalpel handles. They used lubricant before inserting the Foley Catheter.
It was also great to see a straight needle used to sew up the skin incision. I had never seen that before and it looked so much easier and made for a cleaner finished product.
