    ... The story behind the statue is that a little boy saved the city by peeing on a fire and preventing the city from destruction. So they built a statue in his honor and it is now the symbol of the European Union. Also saw the town hall building that is located in the city square. It's a gothic style building that dates back to the 13th century. The gothic buildings are beautiful, my favorite building architecture so far! Off to Amsterdam ...

    ... on was full, so if I left it for the next day I may have had a lot of trouble getting out. The direct one would have cost me 30€ to reserve a seat, so I settled for a few connections, a total of three: Antwerp to Kortrijk, Kortrijk to Lille Flanders, a short walk to Lille Europe, and from there to Paris.

    ... along the sidewalks; cobble-stoned streets appeared every few blocks; and stores - both high end and more common brands - lined the streets. This is where the fashion district of Brussels was afterall. At last, I found an area where it was enjoyable to walk after hours.
